I grinned as I read the funny meme Angelica sent me as we texted in the car.
I stretched and adjusted my earphones as I listened to my music, accidentally nudging Marie's hand in the process.
She glared at me, "Why is it that you have to listen to God know's what when we're all listening to music on the radio?"
"I'm not in the mood to listen to smooth jazz," I replied, raising the volume to Chris Brown.
She shook her head, her eyes going back to her screen as I shut mine off to look out the window.
Sometimes, I just felt as if I didn't belong. My dad and sister were almost identical; hard-working, passionate, serious, and not to mention they basically had the same opinion on everything. Relatives said I resembled most my mom but as time passed, she got mostly quiet, just going along with everything.
"Hey Dad," Marie called.
"Yeah, honey?" he responded not letting his concentration off the road.
"I'm hungry," she said and, as if on cue, my stomach growled.
My mom laughed and shook her head in amusement. My dad nodded his head, "Of course, I'll get my three beautiful girls food."
He glimpsed at my mom at the corner of his eye, grabbing her hand lightly. She smiled back at my father but it looked strained. I shrugged it off, wondering if I was over-thinking it.
"Now, the real question. McDonald's or Burger King?" he asked.

After I woke up from a nap, I realized we were driving into a neighbourhood and I watched as the houses increased in size. Our family is pretty well off when it came to money thanks to my father. As we neared our new house, the car had been filled with a mixture of anxiety and excitement.
"We're here!" my dad shouts happily.
"Oh, thank God," Marie exclaimed, practically leaping out of the car.
"Race ya!" I said, running to the doors.

I sat on the same, familiar bed, but in a completely different room. I had already decorated my room in a hurry with grey walls, tiny lights I hung across my big bed, and the small collage of my pictures containing Angelica and I. I also hung more pictures of a couple of other friends and family like Tyler, Vanessa, and James. I hung a large mirror in the corner along with a table, chair, and drawers with the help of my dad and his team.
I did not decorate too much, used to not staying in one place long enough to appreciate the work for my own room. I did however try to make it comfortable enough for me to enjoy and live in.
My dad's footsteps were heard interrupting my train of thoughts as he walked into my room.
Thanks for knocking, I thought.
"Come on, food's ready," my dad stated, eyeing my room. I nodded and sprinted down the stairs, the strong scent of pasta already reaching my nose.
I sat down at the table with multiple chairs since we put all the necessary furniture out already and were left with more than a handful of boxes to unpack. My dad liked to work fast and efficiently.
I scooped a large amount of cheese and placed the mountain of cheese on top of the food like I always did. I then mixed the pasta, cheese, and sauce together because it tasted much better that way.
"Food makes everything better," I stated, putting a forkful of spaghetti into my mouth after twisting it on my spoon.
"Isn't this a wonderful sight?" my dad questioned as he sat down along with my mother before continuing, "My daughter eating like the Hulk," he says amused.
"Excuse you," I started off, "but I'm a growing girl."
