(This is written in Haruhi's point-of-view)
For once in my life I'd figured out what it means to be in love with someone. I realized that it was Tamaki all along who was meant for me, and that he'd loved me since the beginning. The feelings I developed for him were so strong they almost crippled me.
But I couldn't focus on that at the moment, or I would fail my physics exam. I really needed to study. I guess I could take a short break, though, I thought. After all, I did need to work on laundry.
Suddenly, I started to hear the pitter-patter of raindrops as they hit the roof. Looking out the window revealed a quick flash of lightning, causing me to fall on my knees with dread for the obviously upcoming events. Immediately my cell phone began to ring: Tamaki-senpai.
"H-Hello?" I shuddered into the phone.
"Haruhi, are you okay?!" he asked, sounding worried. "Once the thunderstorm started I got uneasy."
"I-I'm fine, senpai..." I murmured.
Huh? He hung up... A loud crack of thunder shocked me, and I dropped the phone on the floor, curling up in fear. Why did Tamaki-senpai hang up on me? Didn't he notice I'm terrified?
Within five minutes the doorbell rang.
"H-Haruhi?" Tamaki said as I opened the door with a shaking hand.
He stepped in and hugged me tightly, filling me with relief. His body was so warm, and it was so comforting. It was surprising to me just how fast he rushed here, and simply because he was stressed. The fact that he was stressed because of something like this made me feel so much better on its own.
"Hey, why don't you come with me back home?" he proposed softly.
I nodded in agreement; I couldn't stand being alone in a storm this big.
"Here," he said, wrapping his jacket around me. "You'll need this more than I will."
Tamaki reached for his umbrella, which he had dropped on the floor once I opened the door, and led me out with his arm around my shoulder. I could still feel his warmth, and even in the pouring rain, I noticed he was sweating. He must have ran here, I thought.
I felt such gratitude to him. He was so kind, and that was one thing I loved about him. I blushed as he looked down at me and smiled calmly. Another crack of thunder boomed, and out of instinct I grabbed him, his arms reaching around me gently.
Finally we reached his mansion, standing in all its enormity, with bright light emitting from each of the numerous windows. It was stunningly quiet inside, but the silence was understandable, the time being at least midnight. Tamaki guided me to his bedroom, which was kept neat and tidy, its size matching the house.
The sound of the rain was muffled, putting me at ease. I sighed in relief.
"Thank you, Senpai," I said. "For helping me, I mean."
At that, he blushed, saying how little of a problem it was. "It relieves me as much as it does you."
I returned his jacket, which he took and hung up, smiling. He began to blush again, covering his face as he offered me a shower. Of course, I was hesitant at first — showering in others' bathrooms is always pretty awkward, but I did need to take one, anyway.
Handing me a towel and robe, Tamaki showed me to the also enormous bathroom, where I undressed and washed up as fast as possible, while being thorough; I didn't want to smell bad. I walked out of the room with the robe around me, embarrassed at the small amount of coverage it provided. But I didn't have anything else, since my clothes were soaked.
Tamaki seemed nervous seeing me in the state I was, but if we were going to be alone together for the night, I knew I needed to make my move, as difficult as it would be. I strided toward the couch where he sat, and he stood up.
"Tamaki-senpai, I... I... I love you," I admitted in the most confident way manageable.
He gasped. "Haruhi..."
Suddenly, he grabbed and kissed me, pulling away quickly out of embarrassment. My eyes widened. At that point, I discovered exactly how much I loved him. I couldn't help it; I pulled him back in and kissed him again, this time for longer.
