Since I left Hogwarts for the summer after sixth year, Ron's father thought it was unsafe for Alex and I to live with our parents, because it was endangering them, them of course being muggles, and we didn't want our parents getting hurt. So we moved in with the Weasleys. I'd gotten very close with Ginny over the summer and Alex has been learning pranks and jokes from Fred and George, and it had been frustrating Mrs. Weasley because she didn't want Alex following in their prankster footsteps. I remember our first night there as if it was yesterday.

"Jenni?" Alex whispered to me as he lay in his bed as I tucked him in. He was sleeping in Percy's room, but I had been sharing with Ginny.

"Yes Alex?" I said, looking at him.

"Are mum and dad going to be okay without us?" He whispered, looking down. I thought about it.

"Yes love, they're going to be fine." I said, stroking his head, which pushed his hair off his forehead, as I sat on the edge of his bed. A single tear fell down his freckled cheek, and he grabbed me and hugged me tightly, putting his head on my chest, muffling his sobs. Alex didn't deserve to go through this, leaving his parents, he was so young, only 12 years old. Tears fell from my eyes as I hugged him back, putting my chin on his head, trying not to cry. We sat like that for what seemed like hours, until there were no more tears in our bodies.

"I miss them Jenni." He said, his voice shaking.

"We'll see them again Alex, I promise you." I said, sniffling. I felt him nod and we retracted our long embrace. He wiped his eyes on his sleeve and I did mine. Alex crawled back under his covers and sniffled. I did the same and bent down and kissed his forehead. "They'll be okay, they will." I stood up and walked towards the door.

"Jenni?" I heard him whimper.

"Yes baby?" I asked, holding onto the door.

"Can you sing me that song mum used to sing to us?" He asked quietly. I nodded and sat back down on his bed. I cleared my throat and began to sing softly.

"Baby girl, close your eyes,

You don't know the strength you have inside.

If I could I'd shelter you from all the pain

That we all must go through,

But it's up to you.

The road is long,

You twist and turn.

But everything in life you live and learn.

No know ever never said that life was easy,

Or that all in love is shared.

But look inside your heart, you'll find the answer waiting there." I sang, looking at him, holding his old baby blanket, looking at the family portrait on the bedside table. We had taken that photo the summer before Alex came to Hogwarts.

"If you ever lose your way,

You don't have to be afraid.

Look inside, you'll find a friend who'll be with you til the end.

Many different roads to choose,

Searching for the strength to make it through.

But it was always there in you."

Once I was finished singing, I looked down and saw that he was sound asleep, dreaming about being with our parents again. I brushed his short hair to the side and kissed his forehead.
