I slipped on my lab coat, and I had tied my hair in a long ponytail. I put my normal black dress with white heels on.
"How am I gonna make it to Wood crest?" I said as I looked at my little kitty who was rubbing her soft fur against my leg. I picked her up slowly and stroked her. Sometimes I felt like she was the only creature that cared about me.A loud buzz came through my door and I could hear the same voice from the phone on the other side.
"We are here to pick you up doctor, be snappy!"
"Yes sir I'm nearly ready, I'm just grabbing my purse."
I quietly whisper to my cat that his voice was more annoying in person. I put her on the floor and grabbed my bag before opening the door. I came face to face with a shortish elderly man with white hair and strange glasses.
"Hello I am the professor that you talked to yesterday. We have come to pick you up so we could fill you in for your first day at the institution."
He had an odd face, which made me uncomfortable, but I nodded in agreement and followed him downstairs. We climbed into a sleek black car."Now doctor, do you know why we chose you to work for use at Woodcrest?"
"No sir. How did you even get my number?"
"We went your old work and observed you in action, you're very good and don't take any funny business, you have multiple qualifications and a bold personality. We needed a doctor like you."
I was flattered. I was really wanted at institution, this really this was amazing.
We arrived at Woodcrest and I was led inside by my new boss. As we walked through to the lobby I saw that it was all spotless and polished. I looked to the waiting room and reception, people were actually working. We walked a little further and reached the mental ward where I would be working, the wards were clean and spotless, the nurses helped the patients. He took me to a meeting room for the patients, all being supervised by male nurses. It was so controlled and a part of me loved it ...It was ordered.
"Here we are doctor, your new office."
I walk in and it's huge, probably as big as my apartment. My desk had a stack files on it. I put down my bag and looked at the files, these must be my patients.
"Get reading doctor. Your first appointment is in an hour, patient is 109 in ward 6."
I nod and sit down to read, he leaves. Okay so 109; name Kristin Jacobs
Age:40
State:irrational mood swings,depression,multiple personality disorder.
Reason:loss of her child 4 years ago to a car crash.Wow...poor woman. I took her file and as I made my way to her ward, I read through her medical requirements and it's about 2 pages long. I take a deep breath...This is going to be harder than I thought.
I arrive at her room. I look through the windows to see her cradling something that looks like hockey shirt...Most likely her son's. I walke in, she looked straight up at me, I can see by her face that she is distressed.
"Do you mind if Mrs Jacobs and I speak alone, you're intimidating her." I said to the male nurse with me. As he leaves I return my attention to a sniffling middle aged women in front of me.
"Who-oo a-are you?""Hello Mrs Jacobs my name is Dr James and I'm your new therapist."
I give a warm smile and she relaxes a little bit."So Kristen, tell me about yourself, friend to friend. I'm here to help you. "
She looks at me and nods.
"My husband dumped me here after Jordan passed away. He was only 17 years old...my baby."I could see she was about to burst into tears. I tried to hand her a handkerchief but she swatted it of my hand and stood up, fire in her eyes. I lent back in my chair.
"I DON'T NEED YOUR SYMPATHY, MY SON WASNT KILLED HE WAS KIDNAPPED BY CRAZY PEOPLE FROM HIS CAR, THE BODY THEY FOUND IS NOT HIS! IT LOOKS LIKE HIS BUT IT'S NOT!! MY BOY IS OUT THERE WAITING FOR HIS MOMMY!" she screamed at me.
The male nurse came in and sedated her, she was almost on top of me...I realised that job was going to be harder than I had originally thought.
