Ken continued running knowing that the attention focused on the clocktower where he had clashed with the NDF rookie would not last very long.
Ken caught the roar of the Squad Leader over his heavy breathing as it echoed outwards, he managed to chuckle lightly as he continued southwards to what seemed to be a dead end.
After what seemed like an eternity, with his chest feeling like multiple hot needles had pierced through Ken began to get closer and closer to the end of the South Wing, the metallic sides of the colony remained as dull as the inside of the Museum.
Directly in front of Ken, coming down from the ceiling all the way down to the floor attached to the side of the colony was the Colony waste disposal system nicknamed "The Dragon's Throat".
Ken slowed down and dived into a maintenance shed that looked like if you so much as sneezed on it, it would come crashing down.
He sat down and removed the helmet he had stolen off the Major that he had been left with, he slowly calmed down and unconsciously began to review his almost suicidal plan to reach the living complex.
His plan revolves around the Dragon's throat, which is a massive chute with revolving coils that heats up and burns everything poured into it at a temperature of over 1,000 degrees.
Before the waste from the living complex is poured through the Dragon's throat it is vacuumed to prevent any harmful chemicals from mixing and possibly igniting and exploding.
So when the throat opens to burn the waste, the air from within throat pours out into the waste disposal chamber also referred to as "The Dragon's Mouth" just before the waste is poured in and burned. Ken's grand plan is to use the air escaping into the vacuumed waste chamber to fly from the Museum up into the Grand Living Complex.
Theoretically it made sense, and it was a better option than trying to go up against a small military contingent not even including the mechanical vulture and its babies overhead looking to rip him into shreds. But standing in front of the Throat now his usual nerves of steel begun to waver slightly.
The lack of food, rest and knowledge of what was going on suddenly overthrew the adrenaline that had been keeping his body going.
His legs collapsed and he sank to the floor, only now did Ken notice that his belly was trying to perform a full symphony orchestra to him, creating sounds that he didn't even know were humanly possible. He pulled out a snack bar provision that was given to him by the young female Major from earlier and felt a little guilt creep up on him for knocking her unconscious and taking her helmet.
Then he remembered that everyone was out to kill him so he ripped off his new helmet and wolfed down the snack bar without remorse. The Orchestra performance happening in his belly had hit its final crescendo before digesting the snack bar and finally falling silent.
"OK lad, can't back down now" Ken mumbled as he sat staring at the helmet, half-heartedly scanning it to make sure it was in perfect condition.
He picked it up and slotted it over his head it clicked into place and the visor whirred into life, he looked down and began to tap at the half of the of the console that was still intact after having to break part of it off to access the biometrics chip to prevent the security functions from kicking in.
"Ok, looks like the life support system still functions even if the helmet is assigned to a different suit". Ken got up and dusted himself down, not that his appearances contributed to anything, as he revved himself for the final hurdle.
He looked out the shed that had still miraculously managed to stay upright and hurriedly darted from shadow to shadow till he was at the foot of the Dragon's throat. Since the devastating Pirate attack all life had cease to exist in the working class living complex before it was nicknamed "The Museum". Since then the use for the waste disposal system in the Museum had long been abandoned and only received maintenance once in a blue moon.
