.:Destiny; 3 weeks later:.
I woke up at midnight with a sound of a guitar being played outside my window. I walked over to my window and opened the curtains. I looked down to see Scotty, standing there, playing his guitar and singing I Love You This Big.
I smiled as he stretched his arms out wide, in sync with the lyrics of the song. He motioned for me to come down, but I hesitated, my eyes glued to how far down it was. I shook my head, worried. He sighed but yelled, "I'll catch you if you fall, don't worry."
I thought it over for a minute but reluctantly climbed over the side of the window sill. I thought about softball homecoming tomorrow, which I will explain what softball homecoming is. Here, in Gatlinburg, we have two homecomings, football and softball. Softball here is a school sponsored sport. So, I am a senior maid, so far, I might win homecoming queen, but I doubt it.
I climbed down the tree next to my window, landing safely on my feet. I sighed and walked towards, a smiling Scotty. He took my hand, leading me to his beat up blue Chevy truck. It was covered in mud from last weekend's festivities. I chuckled as he forced the passenger door open, he placed his hands on my waist, carefully lifting me into the truck.
He drove to the secret destination, softly singing Clear As Day. He takes my hand, brushing a soft kiss across it. I blush and he smiles at me. We reach the destination, and he ties a blind fold around my eyes, sending me into pitch black. He got out of the truck, and opened my door. He helped me out, grabbing me by the waist. He leads me up a hill, slowly. He stops suddenly, untying the blindfold.
I looked at my surroundings and what I saw was absolutely breathtaking.
"Oh, Scotty." I breathe, starting to cry. He notices the tears, thinking I meant them in a bad way. "Why are you crying? I thought you'd love it." He said, frantically.
"I do love it, Scotty. I'm crying because I love it." I smiled.
"Well, that's a stupid reason to cry." He said.
I punched him playfully," Hey, okay! I take it back!"
"That's what I thought." I smirked.
He chuckled and pulled me down to sit down on his lap. He slid a woven picnic basket towards me, encouraging me to open it. I opened it, shyly but it revealed peanut butter and banana sandwiches, chocolate covered strawberries and two glass jars of milk.
I handed him a sandwich and unwrapped the tinfoil, which kept mine concealed. He did the same and popped the lid off the jar, drinking a swig. I chuckled at his milk mustache but continued to eat my sandwich. He looked at me like I had antennas sticking out of my eyeballs.
I swallowed the food in my mouth, "What?"
"How did I get so lucky?" he smiled.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Your so dang pretty, funny and down-to-earth, and all mine." He smiled, leaning in for a kiss.
I returned the kiss softly, and pulled back. We both finished our food and he handed me a dozen blue roses.
"Awe! How did you know blue roses were my favorite?" I asked him, admiring the rose's beauty.
"You told me." He smiled.
"I did?" I asked.
He laughed, "Yes, you did. Forgetful much?" he asked.
"Oh shut up. I've been busy." I sighed.
We sat in silence, except for the occasional bullfrog croaking, which made me jump.
"You know, I never thought you could be so thoughtful." I smiled.
"So what? You thought I was a selfish, stuck up guy who only cared about himself?" he said, standing up, clenching his fists.
"No! I never said that! I know your not like that!" I said, defending myself.
"Oh crap! Dessy, I'm so sorry! I should've known you didn't think that!" he said.
I turned my back from him, softly crying, now out of anger. He tugged on my shoulder, softly whispering Destiny.
I turned around, "I can't believe you thought I thought that!" I yelled at him.
"I'm so sorry! Destiny, I love you with all my heart. Please, please forgive me." He pleaded.
I heaved a sigh and nodded, "You only get 2 chances, you've used up chance number one. Lets hope you don't have to use chance number two." I said, hugging him.
We packed up all our stuff, and carried it to the truck. He laid a blanket on the hood of the truck and lifted me up onto the hood. He laid down beside me and I laid my head on his chest, admiring the beauty the sky has to offer.
I fell asleep, with his softly humming I Love You This Big. He woke me up an hour later.
"Des, Des, Destiny, wake up sweetheart." He whispered, shaking awake.
"Mhmm?' I mumbled.
"Its 3 a.m. I have to get you home." He said, lifting me off the hood, laying me in the seat. He sat in his seat, started the truck and drove to my house.
He dropped me off, kissing my forehead, and I climbed up the tree and into bed. I fell asleep because being out with your boyfriend all night makes you tired.
