Sort of a bluesy type song that I'm working on. One of the nicest guys I know and someone who I considered to be a friend recently severed his ties with me. I started to write this song from my perspective, but after the first line was written, I found that the lines that followed are all from his perspective. I know how important it is to view things from another's perspective, but I now know the power that comes from writing from that person's perspective. To be honest, it's a completely new insight that didn't come from simply viewing. This is incomplete:
Gotta get a word out to ya son
You can take my life, take it just for fun
Take it up, wring it out
Wipe yours clean with what’s left of me
So once I’m gone don’t say I’m sorry
I don’t wanna hear a single thing
I’ll leave you standing right where I left you
Save all of your precious words
For the chiming birds
You have time for them but not for me
Gotta share a lesson with ya boy
You can play me, use me like a toy
Toss me out and break my bones
Add me to your chipped company
Gotta preach like it ought to be said
You better lose that tone and get out of my head
Don’t you dare pin your guilt on me
I’d rather be shot by an arrow and left for dead
