Alex woke up at 6:00 am. He was still exhausted (he had been up till 2 reading Precocious Crush by Makokam on fanfiction) but he couldn't be late for school today, because he had a test in ap trig. Well, it wasn't exactly like he couldn't show up with 20 minute left in class, and still ace the 40-question test. But his mom would start nagging him...
"Alex, what are you still doing here?"
Sleeping...
"If the class is so easy, you need to be taking a harder one."
Ummm, how about ,"No"
"So that's the type of man you are; the type who just lays around all day and doesn't do shit?"
Sure.
There was no reason to put himself in that position. So he got dressed:
-Glasses
-Green polo that matched his eyes
-His favorite dark-blue jeans
-Green and white converses
-And enormous white wireless headphones that were admittedly an accessory as well as a way to listen to Panic! At the Disco
He contemplated combing his short blonde hair, but he just didn't have the energy. He ran his hand through it going back a few times, and then realized it looked like a slightly messier version of Kurt Hummel from Glee's do. Oh well.
Time to roll. He went outside and grabbed his board: it was only like 2 miles to the school, so he could really walk, but if he was gonna be up early, he was gonna need a red bull.
He was gonna head over to the convenience store, and then skate to school. He'd make it by 7:30. Probably.
He left without bothering to say good-bye to his mother. He was amazed she hadn't already managed to get her morning nag session in, and didn't want to give her the opportunity. He knew he'd be in for a tongue-lashing when he came home, but he'd get one either way; it was inevitable. She always found something to be pissed about, so he wanted to avoid that negative energy while he could.
It was about 6:30 when he left, so it was a bit of surprise not to see any moving cars on his way to the store. But as a skater he would never question an empty street, and instead cherished this gift from the skateboard gods.
He pressed play on his music, and put his phone back in his pocket before it cold again dawn on him how much he needed a new phone. He was coping with a galaxy light, and it wasn't necessarily bad, but he it wasn't good either. At least he didn't have an iPhone...
The first song on his current playlist was Unravel by TK. He sang loudly with the lyrics, totally out of key, but with fairly impressive with the japanese lyrics. He'd been studying japanese for about 2 months now, and found that short of emersion, subbed anime and japanese music were the best sources of true learning.
Trying to learn a language out of a book was like trying to learn to skateboard out of a book. It was best to just watch other people do it and then do your very best to do it better than them.
