~Play The Music Whenever~
Lucy's P.O.V
A loud noise in my room awoke me. My eyes fluttered open slowly, my vision still blurry due to all the crying last night.
I looked across the room and noticed something that caught my eye.
A boy who looked the same age as me.
No, he wasn't a boy. He looked more like a dragon with human features.
The creature seemed to be scared as he stood frozen across the room, assuring me that he was harmless. I then lifted myself and took the time to study his features.
Short stubby horns popped from his head, which led me to realize that his hair was naturally pink. Razor sharp claws were noticeable on his hands and feet. There were also a few scales beginning to form on his arms and legs.
The creature wore nothing but a pair of ripped brown pants that made it above his knees. There was also a scaled white scarf that he wore around his neck.
I noticed something moving behind him. A small length tail, as dark and red as blood, was swaying side to side behind him.
"You're not afraid?"
My thoughts were interrupted when I heard the harmless creature speak.
I lifted the covers off me and stood up, slowly walking closer towards the creature.
"Should I be afraid?" I answered quite calm.
I stopped midway when the creature hid behind the cushioned rocking chair that was now on the floor.
'Maybe that was the noise that woke me up' I thought to myself.
"Why are you hiding?" I asked as I continued to walk towards him. "I won't hurt you."
He slowly looked up and his onyx eyes met mine. His face showed much worry. But for what? For who?
"Because If I come any closer, you'll be afraid." The creature warned.
"I won't. I promise."
And I meant it. Even I couldn't really explain why I wasn't afraid. Most people in situations like these would panic and scream. But for some reason, I knew he wasn't dangerous. If anything, his presence was comforting...
Just like Loke.
I stopped when I was just above him. I slowly brought myself to my knees and moved the rocking chair slowly, revealing the small defenseless creature.
"What's your name?" I asked him.
His face calmed a bit and he wasn't as tense as he was before. He took a deep breath then spoke, "My name is Natsu. Natsu Dragneel." He then positioned himself so now he was sitting with his legs crisscrossed and both of his scaled hands were placed on his knees. "And what's yours?"
"My name is Lucy Heartfilia. Daughter of King & Queen, Jude and Layla Heartfilia."
"King and Queen? Then you're a princess right?!" His sudden reaction startled me. He was now smiling and he seemed anxious to know. I chuckled a bit.
"Yes, that makes me a princess." I said.
"Did you see a dragon pass by here? His name is Igneel! He's a big red dragon! He's not that hard to miss! Come on, please tell me that you've seen him!" Natsu blurted.
I was shocked. Just who was he anyway? "A dragon? Why are you looking for a dragon!? They are the deadliest creatures out there! Nobody in any kingdom or village has seen an actual dragon!"
"You're looking at one right now..." Natsu now had his head hung low. His hands were balled up in fists. "Don't talk about Igneel that way. He's my father."
My eyes nearly fell out of my sockets. A dragon as his father? That's impossible! I've never heard such a story. But what if he's telling the truth? He does have some features that resemble a dragon...
'Way to go Lucy. You just met him and there you go making him feel bad.'
"I'm sorry..." I hung my head low. I was too embarrassed to look at him now. "But can I ask you something?"
Natsu stood quiet. I wasn't looking at him but I can feel his eyes on me, so I took the silence as a yes.
I took a deep breath then asked, "Why did your father leave you?"
There was a long silence after I asked that. I didn't like it. I was too uncomfortable.
I looked up at Natsu. He was looking out the window and he seemed like he was deep in thought. Maybe the question was too personal for him to answer.
"I'm sorry. You don't have to-"
BANG!
I fell back on my bottom. The noise startled me. I looked at Natsu who was now face flat on the stone floor.
Ok, now I'm scared. This boy, Natsu Dragneel, is crazy.
"ARGHH!! This is so FRUSTERATING!!" He yelled. He was now yanking at his hair and kicking the floor below him.
"Wait! Natsu! Stop acting like a baby! Someone could hear you!" I yelled. Well, it was more like a loud whisper.
Natsu lifted himself from the floor and sat back in his crisscrossed position.
"I don't know why he left me. He never told me that he was leaving and he's never been gone this long..." He looked down to the floor once again after saying that.
With that being said, I didn't have the courage to ask him about his mother. It could be another personal topic he wouldn't share with a stranger. I've only began talking to him for about 10 minutes.
"Say..." Natsu began, "Can I also ask you something?"
"Anything." I once again lifted myself onto my knees and used my legs as a chair for my now painful bottom, due to the tantrum he threw not that long ago.
"Why were you crying?"
