"Run!" I screamed and ran with all I had. The ground shook as I looked back I felt tears forming worried about not making it to camp alive. I was running from a Cyclops and another monster with my best friends beside me. "Ahh!" I looked behind me to see Luke Castellan (son of Hermes) on the ground and ran to help him up. I looked to Talia Grace my eldest best friend (daughter of Zeus) stopping in her tracks and having a dagger in her hand. "Run! I'll hold them off!" She turned around facing the direction of the monsters. I got Luke on my side along with Annabeth. "No! we're not leaving you!" I screamed in tears. She ran off in a direction a little ways from us. I saw my best friend die before my eyes. And that's how we're now protected. Thanks to Talia risking her life to save us..........
~Five years later~
"Hey! Gina I'll go." I heard a familiar voice and turned around to see Luke Castellan my best friend since we were eleven. He had a chest piece on and a sword in one hand. I could tell he just got done in a game of capture the flag. Every one backed up knowing what was about to go down. "You may be good with a Bow 'n' arrow but a sword is my thing." He walked closer in the battle field. I replied a smart reply."Bow 'n' arrow are just precision, a sword helps with agility and movement." I got my sword ready and had my bow 'n' arrow on my back knowing sooner or later I would need it. We walked in a circle waiting for the first move. "...." I stayed quite thinking of a plan in case of many things or just being prepared for the upcoming battle. He gave a slight smirk and came at me sword in hand. Just as I called it I moved away the last second and pulled my sword up blocking his attack. I was leaning back while he was pushing me to the ground on my back to get me while I'm weak. "Nice try Castellan, but not good enough." He looked at me confused as he forgot my other hand. I had a dagger in it at the back of his neck. He got straight and in his look I could tell he wouldn't give up that easily. "Drop it." I nodded toward the sword he was holding and in my surprise he dropped it. "Better." Luke smirked and in an instant he ducked and grabbed my hand that held the dagger toward my throat.
But I jabbed him in the stomach with my elbow, got out of his grip, grabbed his sword that was laying in the grass and slid into position. He clapped in awe, but ran towards me ducked my attacks and kicked one sword out of my hand and caught it. "If I can beat Clairice, I can beat you." I snickered at his joke knowing Clairice's mom was the goddess of war. "Nice try Luke but we all know I will beat you with Knowledge and a bit of strength." I smiled at my own joke as he smiled then came at me full strength and after a long time of clashing the swords together he knocked it out of my hand and caught it pointing both swords towards me. "Told ya." He came at me but no way was I going out like this. I saw an arrow slid towards it under him and quickly got my bow ready. "You really thought I was that easy Luke. First rule, know your attackers moves before he attacks." He stared at me surprised and thought a moment before dropping the swords and walking away. "Good choice." I got up still with bow up making sure he was done. Luke knows as everyone else that once a child of Apollo has a bow 'n' arrow in hand you better be prepared to dodge the arrows. I've almost gotten my archery skills perfected only miss one out of ten bull's-eyes.
I lowered my bow knowing the battle was over. I walked out with Leo Valdez (Son of Hepaestus) while everyone clapped. "Way to go Gina!" He high fived me and we walked to practice area. Like for balance and training. I grabbed my dagger out of boot and started training. I was swinging like crazy and then I threw it. "Common Gina! New comer. Jeez." Grover one of my friends (a satyr) replied pointing at a new kid. "Percy Jackson. Nice to meet you." I shook his hand pulling my hair back up again. "How do you know my name?" He questioned. Grover snickered a light snicker, I pulled out the dagger from the dummies head and started walking. "Gina Westral. Daughter of Apollo. So warning, never get in her way when she has a bow in hand." Grover said and started walking in a different direction. I smiled at his remark.
I am good, well great with a bow 'n' arrow but sometimes you wish you were normal. I headed to the weaponry area to grab some new equipment and saw Luke flirting with some nymphs. "Oh Luke your so funny!" One red head got closer to him. "You should come to our party we're having tonight." The blonde said with joy. They were feeling his muscles and I just rolled my eyes. "I can try ladies but I might be full tonight." The girls got sad looks on their faces and said bye, then left. Next thing I knew, Luke was next to me cleaning his sword. "Hey loser." I joked. "Loser? Those girls think I'm a hero." He flexed his muscles and in a response I flexed one arm to show him. He looked at mine then his and smiled and looked away. "If they saw the battle today they would be ignoring you." I saw that Percy Jackson guy again and Luke nodded towards him and Percy smiled and waved. "You know him?" I couldn't help but ask. He's never close to people that close. "Sort of. He was on my team for Capture the Flag." I leaned on the table and stared at him to see his plan or whatever he was up to. "What?" Luke looked back at me and stared into my eyes. "Beautiful eyes today again Gina. A whole mix of colors today and everyday." He touched my cheek and looked closer into my eyes. "Thanks." I pulled away and grabbed my stuff and headed to my tent to put stuff away. "Hey Gina! Still up for tonight?" I turned around walking backwards. "You know it!"
