Black and White

Chapter 1

It was very beautiful, just like I remember it. The swirling hues of warm colors in the sky, the water sparkling with the last rays of the setting sun, and the peaceful atmosphere. Of course he was there too, that cheerful brunet boy.

I opened my eyes, my muscles felt weak just like my energy. I stayed there listening to the beat of raindrops hitting the window. Getting up was the last thing I wanted to do. It felt like ages since the last time I had that dream, and it brought back feeling I rather forget. My alarm rang reminding me it was time to face reality and go to school.

On my way to the institute that was my school, the rain had stopped, leaving a gray sky. It was cloudy and sad, just like my mood. "Roxas, you lazy bum. Wake up!" A girl with blue short hair, eyes the same tone, with a gentle smile call out to me. My dear friend Aqua.

"I'm not a morning person" I said and then I felt someone ruffle my hair. I turn to see a tall guy with brown hair and eyes. Terra with a smirk plastered on his face said "There are only a few things you like in this world sea-salt ice cream, naps and So-" Aqua slam her hands onto Terra's mouth to shut him up.

"Sometimes you enjoy singing or painting"

"Right"  I mumble

"Anyways what clubs are you planning to join this year?" Terra said in an awkward attempt to change the subject.

"All of them" I said plainly. I could feel their worry gazes on me, but I didn't care. I needed to keep myself busy, it made time go by faster. I came here 2 years ago to mend my relationship with my parent, everything was great up until the day I met my grandfather. A controlling person who used his illness to guilt trip my dad into doing what he wanted. Soon after that Sora stopped talking to me, without an explanation.

"I know we can't stop you even if we tried but could you at least wait 2 days for that?"  Aqua said with pleading eyes

"Yeah last year we barely even saw you. Truthfully I don't know how you can manage" Terra join her

They had a point, I admit I miss them too. "Ok, sorry I've been neglecting you both" Terra and Aqua have been the greatest friends to me, even though they are teacher's assistants. They are 2 years older than me, both aspiring teachers. If they only knew that's not the only thing they both had in common. Aqua gave me a side hug and Terra ruffle my hair again, in that moment a flash of red appear. A red string that bind them both together. I was the only one able to see it, seeing it made me wonder, how long would it take for them both to realize? They could be so dense sometimes.

Everything went as usual at school, going from one class to the other, and even though I wanted to join my friends and have some fun, i couldn't. I had other places to be.

"You're late" I was met by my grandfather's cold stare. "Where have you been?"

"Places" I said in a monotone voice

He wasn't amuse at all. He narrowed his eyes at me but then change his expression to a wicked smile. "Soon my boy. You'll learn to respect your elders"  he made my skin crawl. I understood now why my dad was the way he was.  He made me follow him to the living room where my mom and dad where waiting.

"Roxas we need to talk" My mom said with a nonchalant face. In that instant I knew this wasn't going to be good. My mom only looks like that when my parents have bad news for me.

"About?"

"I know we told you that we would move back to twilight town, but unfortunately because of your grandfather's health we can't go back"

"We're staying here"

It hit me like a bomb, I think they understood the impact this would have on me. They were so careful with their words, waiting there for my respond. "I see" I simply said and walked straight out of my house. I kept on walking some blocks down my house, where a little park was located.

Part of me wanted to cry and the other felt relief. "Seriously why do they always do this to me?"  I was so lost in thought, that I didn't see where I was going until I bumped into someone. Of course the sudden hit made me lose my balance, I close my eyes waiting to hit the floor, but to my surprise I was stop by a hand. Panic ran through me, I was touching someone else. I immediately open my eyes and was about to pull my hand when I saw the red string, glowing a bright red. Attaching my pinky finger to the person in front of me.
