"Come on, Silencepaw! Wake up, no sleeping in like a hedgehog today! Up and at 'em!" Badgerwing shouted, pounding his massive paws against the apprentice's exposed underbelly. Silencepaw groaned, rolling onto his stomach and shakily getting to his paws. "Can I go see Mossfeather today? I'll bring you back some herbs for your wounds if you want." he said, ignoring his mentor's scowl. "Sure, why not. Don't bother her too much, though. The majority of Spadeclan already knows what troubles your able to cause." he replied with an irritable tone.
"I caught two sparrows and a vole." he announced to Badgerwing, dropping his prey in the small hole he'd dug to keep the supply safe. "Hmm. Great job." the tomcat responded, although Silencepaw could sense waves of irritation and sarcasm off of him. Badgerwing would scold him soon. "That'll be enough to stuff an entire family of mice." he hissed through gritted teeth. "Honestly, Silencepaw. Your commitment to Spadeclan is shameful. You have no determination whatsoever, no personality. You resemble a dead slug." sighed Badgerwing. "Your tr-" the mentor was cut off by the shrieks of their fellow clan mates. "Fox!" one of the queens yowled. "Save the kits! Defend the future generation!" another cried. "We'll finish this later. Go get Acestar." Paralyzed, Silencekit stared at the tom with wide eyes. "What are you waiting for, an invitation? Go!" No, he thought. I'm going to stop this fox. They'll see themselves.
He sprang at the ginger creature, going for the throat as Badgerwing had told him. The fox screeched and reeled back at the attack, curling a lip and snarling so loud that the horrendous noise made his ears ring. Everyone around him watched with wide eyes, but some of the warriors had started throwing their defensive attacks into the fight. The fox hissed and snorted, getting a grip on Silencepaw's throat and throwing him around like a rag doll. His throat was stinging, and now the creature had him pinned, ripping at his throat and drawing an extensive amount of blood from his flesh. "No, Silencepaw!" Badgerwing screeched, sprinting into the clearing with Acestar and the majority of Spadeclan's warriors at his sides. Thick scarlet substance pooling around his body, Badgerwing and Acestar sprinting towards him was the last blurred vision he had, before the currents of unconsciousness pulled him into their cold embrace.
"Oh my Starclan." a voice gasped chokingly. Gingerpool. "Will he be okay?" she asked worriedly. "Well.." Mossfeather hesitated, sighing and nuzzling Silencepaw's cheek. He opened his eyes a bit, although the two were so busy chattering away that they probably didn't notice. "He has extreme damage to his vocals, and we're not sure if he'll ever be able to speak normally ever again." she confessed guiltily. "I'm sorry." The apprentice got himself up with a jolt, blinking wildly and staring at Mossfeather. "Silencepaw, can you say your name for me?" he nodded slowly, confusion creeping along his features. "S-" he started, clearing his throat and wincing at the pain it urged upon him. "Sil-.." he rasped, choking out a few coughs and breaking into complete panic. He couldn't speak.
