Hey everyone, Phoebe Caulfield here. It has been awhile since you've heard from my brother Holden about his life and how he judges people and cares about my innocence of life so much so let me catch you up with everything. Seem okay with you? If so, great. If not, then read it anyway because I'm Holden's sister.

It has been a few years since Holden got kicked out of Pencey and had planned on leaving New York. I never really knew what was going on in his head, even back then.

D.B was busy as usual in California, mom and dad were doing their own thing, Holden got released from the hospital shortly after Jane had visited. They are now in contact with each other again after so long. All thanks to me being a wonderful sister.

Yes, I did grow my hair after cutting it to that haircut that Holden wasn't really a fan of. When I look back at pictures, I see what he meant about how ridiculous it looked. Seriously, what was I thinking?

Middle school is quickly coming to an end for me and I find it very exciting. I'm going to start high school, another four drama filled years of my life. Big fun, isn't it?

Anyways, I've been talking with Holden about exploring city more to learn about different things going on this world and he's against it. I don't see why though. Every time I question my brother about this he just ignores me and continues on with his writing.

Honestly, I find it is very annoying that my own brother isn't listening to me at all. Holden, ready or not, your baby sister is growing up and you can't stop it because innocence can't be protected forever. I appreciate that you are looking out for me but i need to learn how to take care of myself before I let myself be in the outs of reality.

At school, not much life lessons are taught. However, when they are taught, they do leave an impact. I want to learn two very important things though. How are legacies made? What is the secret of life?

When I went back to school, I spoke to the principal about it.

"So you want to know how are legacies are made." My principal. "Legacies are what you leave behind at places that you were."

"As if I'm making a change for the people that still have to be here?" I ask.

"Miss Caulfield, I believe that you are getting somewhere." My principal said.

"Pardon?" I ask.

"You want to do something for them." My principal says.

"I don't understand." I say.

"Do you notice people that are cold in the winter outside in the street, not wearing an appropriate coat?" My principal asks me.

"Yes, but I don't judge upon that subject because what if that's all that person can afford for the moment?"

"I see." My principal says. "What do you want to do about it?"

"I'm not sure but I'll think of something."

"Where were you?" Holden asks.

"School." I say. "The place where I learn things, the place you keep on getting kicked out of."

"Phoebe-" Holden says.

"-Sit down and listen." I interrupt.

My brothen obeys.

"Why do you have this desire to protect me from society?"

"It's because you are just so innocent." Holden said.

I roll my eyes. "Goodness Holden, you're back at it again with that same old innocence conversation."

"What?" Holden questions. "A brother can't protect his only sister."

"Are you treating me like this is because you never really got to protect Allie when he needed protection the most?" I ask.

"It's not like that." Holden says. "I just regret a few things that remind me of him, that's all."

"So why protect me from society?" I ask. "There's a reason I'm here, isn't it?"

"Before people learn about the society around them, they are careless and don't worry about a tiny little thing, which is where innocence always stays, before society." Holden says. "After people learn about society, there's this change in them, there are judgements everywhere you go about whether you can afford anything or not, whether you can do anything at all or not."

"Are you saying that society is different than what I had expected?" I ask.

"Yes." My brother says.

"Yet like everything else around this world we must adapt with what we have around us." I say.

I grab my bag and walk away from my brother.

"Exactly where are you going?" Holden asks me.

"Out." I sass. "To learn about society."

"Phoebe I-" Holden says.

"Whatever you do, don't follow me." I say.

I leave home without looking back at my brother.

"I want to help people." I say to my principal.

We were at the coffee shop by my school. She was just about to hop onthe bus.

"You want to give costs." My principal assumes.

"How did you know?" I ask.

"What's the secret of life Ms. Caulfield?" My principal asks.

"People change people." I say slowly. "What us does for them."

"You didn't know that before, didn't you?" My principal asks.

I shook my head no.

"Well that's how legacies are made, by making a positive change Ms. Caulfield." My principal said.

At this moment, my mind was blown, just by talk with two people today who have different perspectives on things, I've learned something that was out of the ordinary, not in a textbook.

"Holden, please do not start with me." I say as I walk inside his room.

"Phoebe, I sat down and thought about your perspective." Holden says.

"Wait, you did?" I ask my brother.

"You need to grow up." Holden says. "I have to accept it. Just know that I'm your Catcher in the Rye."

I hug my brother. I'm just glad that my brother is starting to see my side of things and actually letting me grow up.

The next day, I was called to the principal's office.

"I called the thrift shop that's closing down and they're giving us all of their coats." The principal said. "We're making a coat rack in your name."

"That's amazing." I said. "I made a change."

"Miss Caulfield, you made a legacy for yourself." The principal said. "This what you do."

Legacies are made by what you change. People change people. What us does for them. I'm an us, I am very blessed. I want to help. I want to change the world and this is only the beginning.
