A/N this chapters gonna be quite long so bear with me❤️

I hand the story book to Peter, I had gained the day earlier. He lays sprawled out on the bed. His vocabulary is increasing for a five year old. I try to spend at least an hour a day teaching him things that he'd be learning in kindergarten. He seems pretty advanced for his age. "I'm gonna take a shower." I say. I take out the clothes and the plush white towel The Governor gave us.

The metal rings clang against the rod, when the curtain opens. I shut it tightly peeling off my clothes. I toss the clothes out so I don't have to get undressed in front of Peter. The cool water is refreshing which fades into a relaxing warmth. The peach curtain clings to my skin, as I delicately run my fingers through my mahogany tresses. I switch the water off, the cold air mixes with the water sending a cool shiver down my spine.

My clothes consist of a white v-neck with a pocket, green skinny cargo pants and black combat boots. It's simple, but that's what I like. I sit on the corner of the bed, ringing out my thick hair. I pull it to the side into the best braid I can come up with. "Wanna go for a walk." I ask. Peter nods, climbing over the sheets to grab my hand. Outside the summer air is humid and sticky. There really isn't much to do here, especially since The Governor confiscated my weaponry. I could've at least set up my own make-shift targets on the various trees.

The people here always seem a little too perky. Like those fake towns in tv shows. Something about it seems off, I've had that feeling ever since we arrived here. I have my suspicions about The Governor too. Isn't it just too lucky that he managed to build a safe zone when most of the population hasn't? And it's not like he's some government official, he's just some guy.(At least that's all he's letting on.)

A/N Just to let everyone know, I'm gonna do somethings that didn't happen in the show and somethings won't be 100% accurate. But then again it is a fan fiction :)

Some of the stores along the streets are still open, managed by some survivors. One of them is a bookstore operated by Mr. Grey. He's a kind man, always with a smile plastered on his face. His age shows as he has to lug around an old wooden cane. I frequently browse the shelfs, looking for a new adventure to discover or something to entrain Peter. Mr, Grey calls me his most valued customer, even though I never pay.

Opening the golden handle, making the tiny bell ring behind me. Mr.Grey tips his hat towards me, "Looking for somethin' new?" I clutch Peter closely to my hip, not going to deny the pounds this kid has put on. "I guess so." I run my my free hand across the dusty old jackets of the books. Most of them are quite outdated but every now and then I manage to find something more recently published.

Peter grabs for a brightly colored book adorned with various species of farm animals. He tucks it under his arm, to read for later. I stop at a book, with a knight crusade, a boy huddled in a hole out of sight. The title reads Away From Home.(A/N yes I made up the title. I know is cliche but it's not really an important detail) I takes that to the desk, Mr. Grey is at. "What do I owe you?" I ask. "Nothing dear." He smiles through his beard.

Back outside I rest on the sidewalk, Peter seated in my lap. The cool breeze flows through my hair. Looking around I see an African American women and a pretty blonde women. I honestly don't recognize them, must be new. I slowly approach them, peter's hand intertwined with mine. "Hi, are you guys new?" I ask. "Yeah, we got here a few days ago. I'm Andrea, that's Michonne." Michonne just nods, an intense look on her face. "Scarlett and this is Peter." He shyly waves to both of them. "Andrea!" I notice The Governor waving her over. "Nice to meet you." She says before taking off.

Michonne stands there, arms cross. "You don't look very happy." I say."How long have you been here?" She asks. "About a month. Not a great one." She pauses, "Why you don't like this place?" "I don't know, there's something weird about it. Something off." She takes me by the elbow off o the side. "You know, I've been thinking that ever since I got here. I think Andrea's under the spell or something. They even have walkers." My face lightens up with surprise. "Walkers? Surprising, yet not at the same time." "I'm thinking about leaving here. You can come too. I can get your weapons from The Governor." I agree, seeing as I pretty much wanted to leave since day one.

Time Skip

Michonne managed to sneak into The Governors office to retrieve my weaponry. I check the pistol magazine, still full. I slide that into the waist of my pants. It's then that I need to consider making a holster. My dagger, is still in perfect shape, the blade glistening in the light. I slide through the soft black leather of my jacket. I give Peter his small backpack and his sweater.

We both told The Governor and Andrea that we had chosen to leave. The Governor said we should stay, but he agreed with our choice. Andrea on the other hand pleaded with us to stay. She argued that this is the safest she ever felt, that there's no use leaving. She added the fact of me being 13 with my baby brother, but I throw in the point that we survived alone for quite the time. Merle(who I've always had quite the distaste for) slides open the exit gate. Michonne utters the final words, "You held me down anyways." Before she steps out. My heart thuds as I see the gate close behind us. Right hand on my gun and left gripping Peter, we venture out into the infested world.

A/N I would like to add that Carl will DEFINITELY be in the next chapter, and thanks for reading❤️✌🏼️
