"Okay kiddies. Jordan, you need to go. Last period just began and I can't keep you any longer. I'll take care of Miss Anabelle."
Ms. Felicia escorts Jordan out of the room. I can use some space from him. He wants me to be his girlfriend? Jeez, how can he say things so blatantly? Still, we have history together. Friend type history. That's how I look at it, at least. If Marie were here to witness this, she would give me a big slap to the forehead saying I-told-you-so. Speaking of which, where is Marie? The thought isn't comforting. I rest my head on the pillow giving my mind a break. I'm exhausted both physically and mentally.
Soon after, Ms.Felicia enters the are where I'm laying, with a bowl of water and cloth. She pulls up a chair besides me, resting the things on a nearby stand. I try to sit up but she motions me to lay down. Ms. Felicia dips the cloth in the water then brings it to my forehead. I move my hair so it doesn't get wet. The cloth is warm and soothing. It's serenity to my once anxious body.
"How'd you get that scar?" I adjust my eyes to her. It seems she's took note of that. Psh, observant as ever.
"An accident with my mother when I was little", was all I said. I didn't wanna think of my mother. Not now, anyway.
"Must of been some accident. I called your parents. Sorry but, they didn't seem too happy."
"Well isn't that fantastic." That came out more sarcastic than I intended. My mom is easy to keep calm but my father can change personalities when he changes moods. Angry dad is like a bull. There's no stopping when he's started. Another thing I have to deal with when I get home.
"All done. Get some rest. See you later, Anabelle." Ms.Felicia finished up treating me. She dumped the water in the sink next to the bed and exits the area. With that, I drift off into a slumber.
* * * * * * *
I hear a whisper.
"Wake up. Time to go." Hm?
"Come on Anabelle, the bell is about to ring." I wake up to Nurse Felicia nudging me. She explains 5 minutes being left in the period. I have to get my stuff now. I drag my feet from the bed. I stare at my feet swaying back and forth, not touching the floor. It pains to be short. I wonder what time it is? I take a glance and the clock hanging from the beige wall. I still have 15 whole minutes before the bell actually rings. She wants me out before the crowd I assume. Reaching on one of the shelves in the area, I grab my writing book. As I head for the front door Ms. Felicia speaks to me.
"Take care Anabelle. Don't get into any trouble. You don't need it."
I nod, opening the door, leading to the hallway. My feet drag across the floor as i noticed numerous posters and lockers along the walls. 'Get ready for End of the Year dance' one says. Another saying 'Anti-Bullying Zone'. Lastly, 'Who's your date?'
Ahaa. I find myself smirking. It's so cliché and cheesy. Marie has been talking about this dance a lot. I suppose it means something to her. She was saying something about it the other day. I can't remember. That stuff never really intrigued me. It was just another excuse for girls to obsess over useless things.
I continue my slow walk to my locker, avoiding the stares of noisy annoying teachers. Finally, my locker is in sight. I pick up the pace, taking the lock into my hand. I play around with the combination until it opens.
"Hey, you ok?" As I take out my bag I, Marie approaches me.
"Yea I'm fine. Just a little bump on the head." I turn to face her, closing my locker behind me.
"Just a bump? Ana your eye!" Marie takes a small plastic mirror out of her hand bag. Marie's bag is a nice shade of purple. I haven't noticed until now. She hands me the mirror to look at.
