What a jerk. Class A jerk. Amor couldn't even begin—Ugh. Just ugh. Her blood curdles at the thought of Eduardo Buenavista. So proud of himself, so high and mighty in his own right.
Well. In the right of many other people, but mostly his.
Eduardo Buenavista who toots his own horn, and thinks nobody is good for him just because they're not as affluent, as privileged. Sorry, Mr Buenavista, that Amor couldn't be enough for your friendship. Sorry that everyone seems to be out to get you for your money and power. Sorry that everyone is so damn poor for your taste. Mr Buenavista! Afflicted with pride, bestowed upon by birth, by rank, by privilege! Amor hates him more than anything in the world.
When she got home the night before, David had been long asleep, but she found no other comfort than with him. She cuddled up next to her soon, and hugged him tight. And what did wasn't rational; she cried. She cried for the man she thought Eduardo Buenavista was. She cried for the illusion she created around his image, for the person she thought he could be. She cried for the time wasted fantasizing over him. It all wasn't worth it after all. She should have seen it coming.
But today is a new day, and Amor is ready to put everything else behind her, in the past, where it belongs. She's ready to let go of all the hatred she has for Eduardo Buenavista, and just ignore him for God knows how long. It isn't like she's much of a loss in Eduardo's repertoire of highly friends. She's nothing but a lowly employee, isn't she? Not worth a second of Eduardo Buenavista's precious golden time.
He still is stationed on her floor, however. And seeing him, just seeing him, not interacting, not acknowledging him, is inevitable. And damn is he beautiful.
But enough. She doesn't care. He's a horrible human being, too proud, too rich for his own good, or for any of the bountiful good this company has to offer. Eduardo Buenavista, so pretentious, so full of himself, so self-entitled and proclaimed relevant.
"Huy," Betty Mae chastises as Amor takes an angry bite from her sandwich. "Kalma tayo, 'te. Anong meron?"
Amor huffs, and puts her food down, preparing for a tirade of nonstop emotions. "Hindi pa rin ako maka-get over sa ginawa ni Eduardo kagabi! Sobrang rude. Alam ko naman na hindi siya gaano ka friendly na tao pero umabot sa ganun? Walang delicadeza! Siya pa man din yung CEO ng company tapos ganun yung trato niya sa mga employees? Eh yung di ko nga kilala na Natalie, nahambing pa sa'tin e! Kapal ng mukha niya, akala niya kung sino siya. Wala siyang karapatan bawiin yung dignidad ko nang ganun ganun lang; hindi naman yun kanya to begin with!"
Betty Mae laughs, making Amor halt in her rant. "Easy lang," she says, patting her best friend. "May pinagdaanan yung tao! Pero tama ka. Wala siyang karapatan sabihin yun about us. Hindi ko lang gets kung bakit sobrang apektado ka, best."
"Bakit? Ikaw ba hindi?"
Amor stops to take a good look at Betty Mae, and is silenced by what she finds. "Mukha bang apektado ako, Amor?" she challenges. "Hindi ako nagpapadala sa mga ganyang bagay-bagay. Sino ba si Eduardo Buenavista?"
Amor raises her eyebrows at her.
"Well, fine, he's the CEO of this company," Betty Mae resumes. "Pero sino siya manghusga diba? So di ko na lang pinapansin. Yung sinasabi naman niya, hindi magkakatotoo kung hindi mo gagawing totoo. All he's saying is baseless. Unless that's really how you feel? Gold digger ka ba?"
