I start going over things in my head, making sure I have everything in my carry on. My mind begins to wander what it will be like in maryland, cold? Hot? I don't know what to expect.
My mom has gotten a job offer there, something she can't pass up, even though its half way across the country.
In California it's always warm, in fact I've never seen snow before, because I've lived here my whole life.
My little brother Noah runs in my room, "mom wants you to hurry so you can pack the snack bag" he chirps with his carry on bag slung over his shoulder.
Noah could care less about moving, in fact he's excited, he's only eight so the world seems so easy to him.
The biggest change I think, will be going to school.
See, Noah doesn't mind that either, but like I said, he's only eight. Anyway, I've been homeschooled all my life so going to school is going to be crazy.
I stand around the empty room, making sure I have everything, it looks so much bigger empty.
I turn to the last thing left, my wall length mirror, the movers haven't gotten to it yet. I fix my ponytail so that it's covering the scar on my arm.
The scar, yeah that's a long story but here goes.
My dad had a short temper, he would get mad over the littlest things.
When Noah was just seven months old me my mom and Noah managed to all make him mad in the same night.
He lost it, taking his pocket knife he stabbed my mom first in the stomach.
I quickly dailed 911 told them what was going on, then sprinted up to my room with Noah.
I shut myself in the closet, about five minutes later he busted in, stabbing me in the arm.
But before I knew it the police barged in, I had managed to protect Noah and that's all that mattered.
I looked over at the closet, the faint blood stain seemed to stick out more, and I would have to remind mom to clean it off.
That was the good thing about moving, all the bad memories in this house would be no more.
What ever happened with my dad? He was sentenced 25 years in prison, and about two years later we got a call saying he had died of a heart attack.
we didn't attend his funeral, way to many bad memories.
As for mom, she hasn't been with any other men, she knows it scares me and Noah, and frankly I think it scares her too.
"Tessa! Hurry mom needs you I pack the snacks!" Noah yells, breaking me out of my trance.
I sprint down the steps to the kitchen where mom is waiting for me to help her.
-"Nervous?" Noah asks as he sits on the air mattress playing minecraft.
I shrug and turn my head to the front door, all of our bags for the flight are pilled there, the rest of our stuff is in a moving truck, going to maryland.
Our flight leaves at six in the morning, and were sleeping on air mattresses by the front door tonight.
I lay my head down on my pillow, I think a little bit about the move but with all the hustle and bustle of today my eyes can barely stay open.
And then I'm asleep.-
( ok so this is a new story! I'm trying to make the chapters longggggg so that means not as often updates but it's a ok , the cover is confusing because the girl on it (katelyn) looks nothing like how i imagine tessa, but its the only picture i could find. i will put a picture of how i imagine her in a later chapter, anyway, 10 votes and 10 comments for more! )
