maya's pov:
I was in the forgotten garden playing with a little bunny I had found hiding under a bush. I had found a little box in the corner of the garden from a paint brush order from a while ago. I decided to make the bunny a little home and put some leaves, grass and a bowl of water in the box so it could feel some what at home. I heard a knock at the door and placed the bunny in its new home. I walked calmly over to the hidden door where I looked through a peep hole. I saw Eleanor and smiled. I cracked the door open a bit so not too much light projected into the quiet and dark hallway.
"Queen Katy is requesting your presence dear." She whispered to me.
I nodded my head sadly and thanked her for informing me. I checked around the garden to make sure everything was in place and squeezed through the crack of the door. I pulled on the door hard so it would blend in with the wall again and pushed in the knob into its compartment. I followed Eleanor to the meeting chamber. I walked to the room where my mom was sitting with a book in her hand. She glanced up.
"Maya, dear it's time to go shopping and get fitted for the big ball."
"Super." I muttered under my breath and she looked at me suspiciously.
"Well, I'm ready so we can leave now." I faked a smile.
"Of course, dear." She replied and clapped for a servant to come. She must've told them to get the driver for our limo because honestly I toned her out. They scurried off and my mom began to follow them. I stood in my place.
"Maya, let's go honey, we don't want to be late now."
I groaned and followed accepting her held out hand. We walked all the way to the front doors where some servants opened the big glass doors so we could walk out to our limo. I smiled at them as I passed. When my mom and I arrived to the limo the driver opened the doors for my mom and I and we got in. I sighed while thinking , my family is so damn helpless.
The driver scurried off to the drivers seat and began driving off, away from the castle to the building where I would be getting fitted for a ball gown dress. I sighed once more not wanting to do any of this like I did every year.
I sat in the limo while staring out at the window. I studied all of our surroundings hoping to remember them all so I could paint them when we got back to the castle. I drew my eyes away from the window and reached for a glass. I picked the glass up and placed it under the water container where I pulled down the tab as water came trickling down into the glass. I pulled the glass away and brought it to my lips as a cold, refreshing liquid went down my throat. It was nice to have something cold go down my throat since it had been a while since I had drank or eaten anything. I gently placed the glass down in the cup holder and reached for one of the candy jars. I grabbed the jar with the gummy bears in it. I smiled, gummy bears were my favorite kind of candy in the world. I quietly uncapped the jar, because my mom would scold me for eating candy, and took out some bears. I smiled as they entered my mouth. I poured out a bunch of gummy bears and put the cap back on the jar. I placed the jar back in its holder and continued eating my gummy bears and drinking my water. The limo began slowing down as it approached the dress and fitting buildings. I noticed that there were some people standing just a little bit outside of the exact buildings we had to go into. I crawled up to the front and pushed the button so the window would go down and I could talk to the driver.
"You see the people standing outside right?" I asked trying to not sound pathetic.
"Yeah I do. I would smile a lot because I bet you there's paparazzi somewhere out there." He replied back.
I nodded.
"What if it's a fake smile? Because honestly just between you and me I could care less about being here." I whispered so my mom couldn't here.
"Well it's not like they know it's fake."
"Good point."
I crawled back to my seat and waited for the limo to completely stop. I sighed. Today is going to be a long day I thought.
