Chapter 8: New info

Chapter 8: New info.

Friday July 4th, 2014

We walked out of his room seeing the living room empty. Dana and I walked into the backyard seeing everyone there instead.

I guess Dana's little stunt caused everyone to go outside.

"Mom is it ok if I go play ball with Adé and Donis?" He asked, pointing to the back door.

"Of course honey! Just be safe." She smiled. He nodded before grabbing my hand. She watched closely as he pulled me towards the back door and out of her sight.

He led me to his car before we hopped in and he started driving.

"Do I have to play? Can I just watch?" I asked.

"Yes." He said Pulling out my phone I sent a quick text to Aubrey.

Me: I have to play with Dana's friends. 😩 I DON'T WANNA.

I put my phone down glad I have her as a friend to rant to whenever needed.

We pulled up to a small field seeing to boys taking to each out we on the court before watching the car pull into a spot. He turned off the car before hoping out walking over to his friends. I pulled out my phone seeing if Aubrey had responded. Looking at the message I still saw the word delivered. I sighed knowing she probably read the message, considering the fact that she turned off her read receipts I just couldn't tell.

"Scar! You comin?" Dana yelled. I sighed before stepping out of the car and headed to the court. "Guys this is Scar, Scar this is the boys." He said introducing me to his friends. The one on the right was a tall dark brown eyed boy and on the left was a tanned boy who also had brown eyes.

"I'm Adé." The one on the right said sticking out of his hand. I smiled before shaking his hand. Awkwardly of course, I'm never good with meeting new people.

"I'm Donis, but you can call me Don." The boy on the right said giving a slight wave. I smiled before a awkward silence fell over us.

Great.

"So who ready to play?" Dana asked clapping his hands. Donis picked up the basketball before all of us walking towards the center.

"Donis and I verses you and Scar?" Adé said making sure he got the order right. Dana nodded before standing in front of him checking the ball.

A couple hours later we were tied 5-5. I sat on the concrete, taking a break.

"There gonna start the fireworks soon." Donis said looking at the sunset.

"It's a good thing we're here, his is one of the best places to see the fireworks." Adé added, dribbling the ball. Dana was typing away on his phone and I was looking at the sky and at the boys. They kept talking about nonsense before acknowledging me.

"Scarlet your from New Jersey right?" Donis asked. I looked up at him and nodded.

"Aye! Dana got himself an east coast girl!" Adé said slapped Dana's arm. He looked up completely lost, I laughed at Dana's adorableness.

"So you guys coming to ThurZay's party?" Dana asked, looking up from his phone. The boys shrugged.

"I might, it's Thursday right?" Adé asked pulling out his phone.

"Yeah, I'm definitely going." Donis confirmed. I stood up and put my arm on Donis' shoulder.

"Who's ThurZday?" I asked.

"One of Todrick's friends, she's having a party on Tuesday. " Dana laughed before putting away his phone.

We all heard a boom come from behind us, all of us turning around we see a big red firework shine across the sky.

"Let me get the mat. Dana grab the food." Donis said, jogging to his car along with Dana.

"You know he likes you right?" Adé turned looking at the sky.

"Yeah I guess." I replied, biting my lip to keep from suppressing a smile.

He chuckled stuffing his hands in his pockets. "For future reference if you meet any girls, be careful."

"Wait what do you mean?" I asked, wanting more information. All girls? Girls that are his friends? Fangirls?

"Well there's-"

He was cut off by a firework bursting it's colors in the sky. He stopped talking after that, he kept looking at the sky. I stayed quiet glancing at him. He was weird, maybe a little to mysterious for me. Dana and Donis came back several minutes later and placed everything on the grass, various food in front of the floor blanket thing. We all sat down saying something about one another, well more like they were interrogating me while I cut in with questions about them.

"What do you do in your spare time?" Donis asked his head propped up on his hand.

"I don't know." I shrugged. He raised an eyebrow as another firework went off in the distance.

"You play basketball often?" He asked. I shook my head.

"Only in school, I don't have a court or a ball." I told him before suddenly remembering the ball Peter gave me. A slight smile came to my face in thought of it. Before it was immediately pushed back by the thought of Dana showing me how to throw.

"What's his name." Donis asked. I looked up at him confused. But he only repeated. "What's his name."

"No idea what your talking about." I said playing dumb, he doesn't need to know my thoughts.

"Sure" he said sarcastically.

"I'm gonna use the bathroom, Donis?" Adé said standing up. Donis shook his head, he looked at Dana who shrugged and stood up.

After they left I turned to Donis who was staring at the fireworks.

"Donis?"

He only hummed in response.

"Does Dana have any girl friends?" I asked. He chuckled and shook his head.

"You like him huh?" He asked laying on his back, his arms behind his head.

"That's besides the point. Just answer my question."

"Well of course he has girls that are friends but I've only seen one that seems to like him."

A bright blue firework set off in front of us, clashing with the orange one just before it.

"What's her name." I asked, staring at the display. I honestly don't think I want to know this girls name. But I'd rather know than figure it out to late.

"Keana Marie Issartel."
