"Mankind must put an end to war, or war will put an end to mankind" - John F. Kennedy.
-
It was a cold November evening as Joey walked along the sidewalk, his camera around his neck and a cup of coffee in his hand. The park was mostly empty at this time which was wonderful for him as he truly despised the idea of taking photos while people around stared. He made his way around the park, taking pictures after picture and making sure they were as perfect as he could get them as quick as possible.
Joey was careful though, he wanted to get home as quick as possible. Ever since the war started he hasn't felt safe.
No one did.
But he had to finish this assignment for class. Just because there was chaos it didn't mean it would stop him from finishing his education. As he was finishing up taking his last few pictures he felt someone bump into him, making Joey hit a nearby tree face first.
X: "oh my gosh I'm so sorry, I wasn't paying attention"
Joey turned around as he heard the panicked and flustered voice to see a tall boy about his age with brunette hair and beautiful eyes.
J: "I um no I'm fine" he began as he looked down at his camera which thankfully was fine "I'll be okay"
X: "positive?" He asked once again, his head tilted to the side ever so slightly.
A soft chuckle left the boys lips as he nodded, running a hand through his quiff.
X: "I'm Daniel by the way. Daniel Preda. What are you doing out here? Isn't it a little to late?"
J: "I was" Joey took a slight pause as he looked up at Daniel's face which had a kind expression on it before continuing "finishing an assignment. I came to take some pictures before the sun set" he said as he looked down at his camera "and I'm Joey, nice to meet you"
The two boys shook hands and made eyecontact for the first time, Joey's cheeks becoming a dark crimson color as a slight smirk appeared on his pink lips.
D: "nice to meet you as well Joey"
J: "well I should probably get going, hopefully we can see each other around soon" Joey said as he offered Daniel a polite wave and began walking off
D: "you're going to walk all the way home? Do you need a ride?"
J: "oh no worries, Its not far"
D: "its getting dark out. I insist on taking you"
Before Joey could respond the boy had grabbed his arm and pulled him towards the parking lot. Joey tensed up at his touch but continued walking along, the slightest hint of a smile on his pink lips.
