*The story starts off with a flashback of the main characters...*
Minyoung, 3rd grade : "Grandson...I would like if you married a Korean girl. Keep the Korean blood in the family. Keep it strong! Not saying you shouldn't like other women, but make sure you bring home a Korean girl when you're serious with her." Grandma Ahn spoke in confidentiality to her grandson. Although he was a little confused, Minyoung shook his head in agreement to her. This wasn't much mixture in his family; he had one mixed Korean-White cousin, but that was it. He found other girls pretty, but at a tender age of 8, he was pretty sure he would marry a Korean girl anyway. His family was very serious about it & that was what he was use to.

Ryanne, 3rd Grade: "Honey...I don't care what color a mans skin is. As long as he treats you right, I will accept him. He is part of the family!" Ryanne's mother spoke affirming words to her. Even though Ryanne was only 8, she already knew that when it came to liking a boy, his skin color didn't matter. She didn't know who she would marry when she got older, but she knew her family wouldn't care if he wasn't the same race as her. She had a whole bunch of mixture going on on her family anyway. "Oh yes sweety," her mom continued on, "If these boys try to make you feel bad about how you look, dont listen to them. If a guy doesn't like you because of your skin color, move on! He's not for you. The one who loves you will not let skin color get in the way. Always remember...black is beautiful." Ryanne smiled up at her Mom's comforting words...she couldn't have asked for a better Mom.
