"Riley, why are you still in bed? It's almost eight, love" My mothers voice awoke me. I groaned and rubbed my tired eyes.
"I don't wanna." I whined as I shifted over to lay on my side. Just when I thought she was gone, I felt my blanket being tugged away from my body. I gripped onto the fabric, fearing the thought of the cold air hitting me and opened my eyes only to see my mother standing over me, waiting patiently.
"Cmon, get up." She shook me gently. I finally gave in got out of my bed because she could stay here all morning trying to get me up. Once she left my room I walked over to my closet and sighed, what should I wear...
I yanked out my black Féline sweater, plain jeans, grabbed undergarments and walked over to the bathroom to take a shower.
After I scrubbed myself clean, I slipped into my clothes and went over to the mirror to do something productive with my hair. I stared at myself, taking in my features before even moving a muscle towards my hair. I sighed and brushed my hair, deciding to just leave my brown locks to fall at my shoulders. I looked at myself again, approving of my look before I brushed my teeth.
I grabbed my phone and bag, slipped on my white Vans then walked downstairs.
"Bye, mum!" I said before leaving the house and walking to school.
Before entering the school, I stood outside looking up at the building towering over me. As if high school wasnt bad enough, I had to enroll into a new one during my last year. My last year, which should've been spent with my friends back in London. But instead I'm 3 hours away in Cheshire. Fucking great. Note my sarcasm. I eventually got tired of just standing there and walked inside.
The halls were deserted, indicating that everyone was in class. I walked into the office, where a grouchy looking lady sat behind a desk.
I awkwardly cleared my throat in attempt to get her attention.
"Yes?" She questioned.
"Er.. this is my first day. I kinda need my schedule."
"Your name?" Her voice was raspy and rang through the room.
"Riley Harris."
She clicked away on her old computer and soon she printed out my classes and retrieved it from the printer.
"Here ya go, doll"
I smiled politely at her before walking out of the room and quickly studying my classes for today, Literature, Chemisty, Algebra, Lunch, Religion, and then Physical Education. I rolled my eyes then proceeded to my first class.
After a solid ten minutes of roaming the halls of this maze of a school, I finally found the door to the classroom. I glanced up at the clock on the hall wall. There was only 25 minutes of class left. I walked into the class room and all the students turned around to see the latecomer.
"You're late." The teacher in the front of the room said, not even turning around from the notes he was writing on the bored.
"Sorry." I said quietly.
"Take a seat next to Bobby. Bobby raise your hand." I looked out to the rows of students sitting in twos and I spied the orange-haired girl with pale skin raising her hand, sitting in the back.
I quickly walked over to her and sat down.
Bobby turned and looked at me, "You're new right?" She said, but low so that the teacher couldn't hear.
"Yeah."
"What's your name?"
"Riley Harris."
