"Do I really have to participate? There are enough people here without me!" You protested, but Bethan was determined for you to take part.
"Yes, you have to participate! So stop arguing, and choose an item!" Bethan snapped, making you give her one final glare, before cautiously placing your hand into the bag, unsure of what to expect. You slowly felt each item, and you were unable to identify any of them by touch alone. That was, until your fingers came across a small object, which felt cold, yet oddly familiar. You quickly took it out of the bag, aware that the other guests were becoming impatient.
"A ring? Hold on, haven't I seen this before?" You questioned, staring quizzically at your best friend.
Several of the guests started to whisper quietly among themselves, as Ciel Phantomhive himself stepped forwards.
"_____, would you please give me my ring back?" Ciel stared at you blankly, and you could tell that was an order, rather than a request.
"Certainly, Lord Phantomhive." You stated, handing him back his precious ring. He returned the ring to it's rightful place, back on his gloved hand, and sighed.
"Well, I suppose we should get this over and done with. Your friend would most likely be... upset, if either of us were to refuse."
He added, glancing at Bethan, who looked as if she was going to cry.
"_____!" Bethan whispered in your ear.
"You weren't supposed to get Ciel! I was!" She whined, reluctantly steering both you and Ciel towards the lone closet at the back of the ballroom.
"Hey, do not blame me! This was YOUR idea!" You would have continued to defend yourself, but you were cut short by Bethan shoving both of you inside the, now rather daunting, closet.
"Seven Minutes! NO LONGER!" She shouted, but in a... friendly way? Ciel obviously meant allot to her... Your thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the door slamming shut, then clicking, indicating that you were now locked inside, along with the noble Ciel Phantomhive...
"So... Ciel." You mumbled, trying to make polite conversation. Even though you were approaching sixteen, you still had a limited amount of social skills...
"Have you ever done this before?" You winced at your unfortunate choice of words.
"I'm sorry, you do not strike me as the sort of person who would usually take part in such nonsense..." You trailed off, trying to make up for your previous question.
"No, I have never done anything like this before, and I do not intend to again, if I can help it. However, this may not be as bad as I had feared." You could hear Ciel move slightly, but you could not see him, due to the darkness that surrounded you both. You frowned at his comment, unsure of what he meant.
"Oh..." You honestly had no idea what to say, or how you should talk to an Earl. Somehow, Ciel must have guessed this, as you heard him take a few steps towards you. Thankfully, you could just about see his face, and the outline of his eye-patch. The thing that confused you though, was the fact that he seemed to be far to close for comfort. Without warning, his right hand rose to your face. You screwed your eyes shut, expecting him to slap you, but instead you felt something cold resting on your cheek.
His hand then moved from your cheek to brush a few strands of your (h/c) hair away from your face, and cupped your chin in his other hand. He was so soft and gentle, you could hardly believe that he had previously appeared to be cold and unemotional!
"Ciel? What, are you doing?" You could not help asking, as a blush started to rise upon your face. Ciel smiled ever so slightly.
"Forgive me, _____, but all I can offer you is this..." He whispered in your ear, his warm breath causing you to gasp slightly. Before you could say anything else, Ciel brought his lips up to yours and kissed you gently. Only once, but it still meant a lot to you. He broke away after a moment, in order to quietly admire the shocked yet pleased look on your face.
"I know that our time in here is restricted, so allow me to do something to make sure that it is not completely wasted." He then placed his arm around your waist loosely and sent a flurry of light kisses down your arm. You bit down on your lip, hard, in order to prevent any noises from escaping. You were startled by the sudden sound of the door being unlocked, and Ciel drew back, his arm still around your waist. Bethan stood in front of you, her face contorted with rage.
"_____! What did you two do in there? I thought that I could trust you!" You brought your arms back to your sides, straightened your posture, and put on your sweetest smile.
"We were only getting to know each other better! Besides, you are always telling me that I should socialize more!" A smirk spread across your face, as Ciel linked his arm with yours. Bethan had teary eyes, and managed to let out a nervous laugh, before running away into the crowd of guests.
"_____, would you do me the honor of visiting my manor more often? You seem like a genuinely nice person and we could certainly do with one of those around here.". The two of you walked casually towards the side of the ballroom, away from all of the noisy guests, awaiting your answer.
"Lord Phantomhive, the honor would be all mine." He stopped, turned, clasped your hands in his, and smiled crookedly.
"Please, call me Ciel."
