Blade

Silence, the deathly silence.

My hand slipped out of my pocket to try to connect with Leo's but only found the cold air.

Instead of our names we were labelled with a number. Herded like cattle into pens.

The girls 16 year olds section was surprisingly empty. 10 or so of us but that didn't stop us from being huddled together so when I did reach for Leo I hit the Girl next to me.

I had expected her to react but she just crossed her arms and cowered away from me.

The leader put his hand in the bowl and mixed up the papers as if that would make a difference.

I had been in the prison the longest and I was the oldest.

Everyone knew it was going to be me.

But he mixed them anyway.
