I opened my eyes, yawned, and sat up. I checked the clock, 7:30, a perfect day to help out those in need.  By the way I am in college, I look 19, but actually I am not. I'm way older than that. I got dressed into my jeans, and put on a white flowing shirt. I put my hair into a quick Dutch braid, and was done.  I put my bible in my messenger bag, and was heading out the door when I bumped into my roommate Bayleigh.  I noticed that she had tears streaming down her face.  "Hey Bayleigh! Are you okay? What happened!" I said gently. "Oh Gabby, It's just my whole life I have made terrible mistakes, my mom died of Pancreatic cancer at a young age, which has turned me bitter.  I just am tired of the sin, the shame, knowing that I am a nobody.  I just want somebody in my life who would care for me!" and with that she started sobbing.  My mind flashed to the verse last night that I had looked up in my bible. It was John 3:16.
"Bayleigh, there is somebody who loves you so much that he died on the cross for your sins. Jesus, the son of God, died so you could be saved!  If you tell him that you are sorry, and repent, he will forgive you. God loves you no matter what you have done.  If you believe in him, and have a pure heart your sin will go away." I explained. She looked up at me with a hopeful expression, tear stains streaking her face and said very slowly, "Yes I believe and I will have a pure heart. I will do what is right, and love people as I love myself." I then gave her a prayer to repeat.  "Dear Lord I know that I am a sinner, and that I have failed you over and over. I want to ask you to forgive me for all of my sins that I have committed and for you to please come into my heart. I love you so much Jesus and thank you for all that you have done for me, including dying on the cross.  Thank you for giving me hope.  She hugged me tight and breathed a shaky breath of relief. " I feel like the weight of the world is lifted off my shoulders. "Thank you Gabby!" She hurried off and got dressed. Time to help more people....
