In the vast valley, aside from plants and small insects, I'm the only living thing. The only other living person stands away from me. Watching with caution. I know all too well who it is.
I feel her eyes gazing from above. Almost caressing my arms attentively with their look.
By now, stars have conquered the sky. The Moon has beaten the Sun. But the infinite sky is just stars upon stars. A beauty hardly witnessed by many.
The fresh summer grass cushions me. I lay in it, forgetting the world. The only sounds here are the sounds of the wind blowing against your cheeks, brushing you softly. The air wraps around your nose with a soft fragrance of dew drops and greenery. And the only other presence is the reader.
We both know why we're here. We want to escape the world. Forget what was, what is, and what will become. But we can't forget right now. In life there are only these guarantees: right now and death. For everyone, those are the only guarantees. People are the ones with the choice to take right now and make something of it. Life is just a script without foreplay, waiting for the writer's block to pass.
"Have you come to kill me," I ask rashly.
For a few seconds, there's only silence.
"No," I feel written on my skin, "I came to give you a choice."
My eyes widen, if only for a second. Not solely out of shock but curiosity.
"What are my options?" I ask hastily, sitting up.
She comes closer. All she has is a purse and even that is clearly empty. She opens the bag and pulls out something brilliant. It doesn't take long for me to realize what my options are.
"Kill me now, with this knife, or let me be free."
