More of the truth (part two) chapter 9

"How do you know my part of the story?! And why do you even care about what Samuel gave me?" Hailey growled at Danny.

"What did he give you?" I asked quietly.

She undid the clasp on the necklace that she hadn't taken off in the years she had been with Josh. Hailey opened the locket portion of her necklace and stared at the picture before reluctantly handing it to me.

"That is what he gave me. And the ring too. He was supposed to take off the night from this life" she gestured to the room around us "but Tony was 'needing' his help and so he ran off, before he got to propose. I cried before realising I could follow him to his 'work-place' and bust the man he worked for, because he ruined my night. But I didn't know that it was THIS house, on THIS piece of land, that he was working. It was for sale, and the house was just finished and we were going to miss the last bit of school, to be together out here. Tony had come out of the house, hearing my car pull up, and came towards me. I jumped out of the car, and asked for Samuel, but he said there was no Samuel, so I asked for Zach. Zach was there, and then we were talking about my spying on what he was doing tonight. He was overjoyed, but told me never to call the cops; I figured they were drinking, or smoking weed, or dealing. Not what I had watched" she stopped before she started choking back tears, and looked at Matt so he could add his POV.

He shook his head and looked at Danny, "Danny, you remember best. You were attached to a pole the entire time, I was doing other things" Matt said quietly, but seriously.

"Wait..before you go on, what's the relationship between you guys, and Tony?" I asked both of the guys.

"Old Jr high friend" Matt said pointing at himself, "brother" he said nastily, pointing at Danny.

"That explains why he wanted you to help, Matt. And why didn't you tell me about Tony?! I saw his eyes when he grabbed me, and I stopped fighting for a second. One second! Where I was mesmerized because they reminded me of you, and it was just long enough long enough for him to grab me tighter, long enough for him to recognize who I looked like, to make sure I was the one he was going to grab! And damn Hailey had to get grabbed too!! I would've been better off without you here!" I snapped.

"You would've died without me here!!" she shouted.

"You should've let me die, then!!" I screamed.

The room went silent, and everyone was staring at me. I wiped the tear that was falling, and walked to the bedroom. I came back out after grabbing what was the most important thing that I brought with me: my purse that Hailey gave me a week ago.

"You know what's in here? A note that Joshua wrote, a ring that Lewis gave me, and my parents picture. My REAL parents, on their wedding day. I look exactly like her. And she was at the club. I talked to her in the bathroom; she helped me with my makeup, to make sure it was even. I walked out of the bathroom, and ran into Tony and she came out behind me, as he said sorry for bumping me, and she took a look, and ran the other way. She knew what he did to Julia; she said she missed her firstborn and her twins, because the first had died in a freak accident, one twin died same way, and her other twin had been taken from her when she was born. She knew who I was, tried to help by getting your attention before she left the club, but you were eating pizza. And I had at first thought that she was just a teen helping a girl with messed up makeup, but she said she had one of her kids at home. Then she wished she never had let me go that night. I asked her what she meant, and she said 'Nothing. Just wishing you knew everything. Ask your friend about it'. I said ok, and walked out. And then this happened. I was kidnapped because you didn't tell me the truth, because you don't know how to help a friend, because you couldn't open your big mouth, for once, Hailey" I ranted after dropping the purse onto the coffee table.
