[Chapter 6] I didn't know I was famous.
We agreed to find a hotel after that,I mean,it was about 6:00. Best to find a place to stay and call the family. We checked in at 'Snorlax's Heaven' it sounded cute. One room, three people, sounds a tad wrong but me and Em hogged the bed and made Mitch sleep on the couch. The room we had was a boring beige colour, but had pictures of famous Poketrainers all over the walls. It had a double bed,a 40" tv on a brown stand and a couch next to a tall lamp. The bathroom was pretty cool for a bathroom, haha. It was green and blue, with little Wailmer, the whale Pokemon, stickers on the walls. The floor was tiled, white, green, white green. A pretty bathroom. But yeah,I called my mom.
"Hey,uh mom?"
"Hey hun! It's getting late, when are you planning on coming home?"
"I'm at a hotel." I went on to explain the events of the whole day and she seemed amazed.
"Right, well, okay then. So this is you leaving? I mean you are only thirteen."
"I know mom,but I want to be like uncle Ash,he set off at thirteen right?"
"I suppose, well, you'll have to come and visit me and your father once a week."
"I will ma,okay,I'll see you later." I laughed at the anxiety in her voice.
"Just remember that we love you."
"Yeah yeah,love you too."
"Wait! Don't you need some money? Yeah, you will,if you're travelling. I'll send you some money to the Viridian Pokemart. Go there at about 9:00am because I'll go post it now."
"Thanks mom!"
"Okay, bye Alex." She hung up,I hated those awkward parent-child conversations. It was the same with the others really,Mitch and Em were also going to receive some money from their parents too. We didn't know how much yet, even 20 would do.
The next morning we set off to get our Pokedollars from the Pokemart. Unbelievably,we'd all gotten 250! As we were coming out of the shop,a Pokecontest poster seemed to catch Mitch's eye. He stopped, and stared for a minute, without looking at anyone else.
"I'm entering that Pokecontest." Mitch suddenly announced.
"Mitch! You can't do that yet! You're not even experienced yet!" Emily shouted.
"You've seen my Pokemon, they're already a very high level! I think I could pull it off."
"No,no way Mi-"
"Wait." They both turned around from the argument to look at me. "He might just be able to. If he tries extremely hard."
"Wh..what?"
"C'mon Em,it'll be fun!" Mitch exclaimed, with an evil smile, knowin he was getting his own way.
"Oh god, fine. But don't come crying to me when you lose Mitch."
So,we left for the 'Portal Battle Arena'. It had only just been built and this must be the celebration of the opening. The arena wasn't far away, just a little bit further out of Viridian. When we got there,we saw a massive line filled with Poketrainers and their Pokemon. Suddenly the weirdest thing ever happened.
We stopped and looked at this massive que. Mitch looked heartbroken,he hated waiting. But,he knew he would have to do it in order to enter the competition. All three of us started to walk to the back of this line,but then we heard someone from the front shout;
"Oh my god! It's Alexia Ketchum!"
"It's Wriddle." I shouted back.
"We know you only as Ketchum, because of the gene!" Wow,Taylor must have been serious about this genetics thing.
"Really? Wow! Where is she! I want an autograph!" Another voice shouted, coming from further back the line this time.
"I'm only here to enter my friend in this contest!" I urged, turning both feet inwards slightly,I was shy.
"You can cut in front of me Alexia,I'm the first!"
"Yeah me too!"
"No cut in front of me!" I was highly flattered but the guy at the front waved us forward. Me and my friends wandered to the booth at the front where Mitch was handed a form to fill out. He finished it and entered the arena.
