I stared at the hand lying limp on the grass before me. Its skin coarse and aged over time, knuckles battered and bruised from all the one-sided fights we shared together.
Feeling disgusted by the sight of it, I moved my eyes to catch the concerning gaze of my Knight in Shining Armour. Of course in this case; he literally was. Although his face was covered with the fake silver helmet; leaving only a thin slit for his eyes I'd know them anywhere.
His midnight blue eyes; a shade barely recognisable in our poor lighting glinted in the moonlight. Regarding me speculatively, not a trace of hate in sight; I felt uncomfortable under his surveillance.
Breaking off of his intense stare, I take in the scene before me. Feeling faint, I gave into the black-waters letting it overcome my senses. Greatly needing an escape from reality.
Unfortunately for me, it meant having to re-live the whole incident.
Stepping towards the large crowd before me my wedges crunched the dead leaves under me; causing nuisance, gaining an unnecessary audience. In this case it wasn't a normal audience; these were my peers for the past four years. Who have spent the majority of their year making mine Hell. The only exception was a handful of people.
I don't really blame them to be honest, it's probably they've actually actualy acknowledged me as one of them and not that freak-who-always-wore-her-hood-on. Well, aside from giving me a spiteful look when passing by in the classroom corridors.
Pushing aside the growing nausea, I held my head high; a slight smirk tugging my lips as I take in their awed appearance as I grace my peers with a full view of my face. Something that’s foreign to them, causing their eyes to light up with curiosity.
The IT crowd looked on, the girls clad in skin-tight or Bodycon dresses with bunny ears and sky high heels regarded me with interest.
A slow blush built, burning up my cheeks; a contrast to the glimmering emerald ivy leaves I drew on. The vine was short; intricate in a sense but simple. Drawn on the left side of my face, the vine started at the edge of my cheekbone; curving up over and ending just about in the middle of my eyebrow.
Complementing my hazel eyes, I only added pale gold eye shadow and mascara to elongate my eyelashes. My mocha hair was left down in natural waves; ending a couple inches below my shoulders.
I doubt any of them really knew who I was.
''Amara?''
Except for one.
Aiden Maine.
Probably - no is- the most popular guy in Redberry High. Even though he is a jock; as he plays quarterback on the field Aiden has a very friendly persona. Like the rest of my female peers, I too had a crush on him.
Only my crush is more valid because it's not based off of his appearance. No, I've grown to like Aiden during our art lessons; where we'd spend hours talking and getting to know each other. I had learnt that he and I share more in common than I had thought; thus allowing us to have an easy relationship.
Smiling timidly at his approaching figure, my eyes quickly skimmed his suit of armour.
''Hi.'' I said slightly breathless; due to his proximity.
''Hey, I didn't know you were coming?'' making his statement into a question, Aiden stared at me curiously; his left eyebrow tilted up.
Feeling my hands getting sweaty with the ongoing attention of my peers I stuttered out my answer.
