Back When

Back when I was a little kid
I thought superman exists.
I thought batman was out there killing goons with his fists.
I thought spiderman was swinging through the city on his webs.
While wolverine was injected with adamantium in a lab.
I thought Goku was busy saving the Universe.
And I thought super heroes roamed about in the world around us.
I still think they do or maybe I hope because.

Back when I was a little kid I thought everything was black and white.
And all actions could be categorised as wrong or right.
I thought the truth was an unbreachable wall.
And sticking to it would help me stand tall.
I thought I would always stand my ground.
Against any wrong I'd never back down.
I would always hold my own.
And I had faith that I wasn't alone.
Because I knew there were a million kids out there.
Under the Illusion that the world was fair.

Back when I was a little kid I thought one day I would fly.
So I kept my head up busy gazing the sky.
I thought everyone was rich and there was no poverty.
But of course back then I didn't know the facts properly.

There were people trying to fight the system and dying to save their children while we were in our houses smiling and law abiding but unaware of the corrupt wildlings that killed our nation and were always breaking rules for personal gains while the poor were battling for their lives and trying to survive the night in the blistering cold, and we were sleeping in our cozy beds with stomachs full in our warm households.

Back when I was a little kid I wished that I would be older.
But now that I am, the reality is too heavy for my shoulders.
I wish I could turn back the time and cuff its hands.
Back to when I was just a little kid lost in his dreamland.
