Taryn was bored to death. She hated sitting around all day. Usually she'd go out to hunt but she was grounded after her latest prank. She could've hung out with Lean but he spent most of his time nowadays with that new girl he was courting-Amry. Army may be gorgeous and sweet but she knew nothing about leading a pride. Taryn had been leading the hunts for the past three years of her life and she wasn't about to give up that spot to some dumb witch who'd probably cast a spell on Lean. Lean being the strongest male in the family was the next in line to be Alpha. Although they were a pride, their system worked so much like a wolf pack's.
Taryn sighed again. She'd chased away so many of Lean's girlfriends but this one had enchanted him. How else had she managed to get past Taryn's tricks?
"Oh Ean(Ian) you are soooo funny!" She heard Amry's annoying nasally voice and rolled her eyes.
Then she realized- Ean? How dare she use HER special nickname. Taryn's nostrils flared. It may not be her nickname for him but it was what the whole family called him and this little brat was NOT part of her family and never would be.
Taryn sensed them outside the door and leapt off the couch as they walked in. Lean had his arm around Amry's waist and she was giggling while he grinned. His smile was gorgeous along with the rest of him. He had long wavy blonde hair that was scruffed up all around him and had light blue eyes that always gave you chills. Normally girls would faint at the sight of him but not Taryn no sir. Taryn was a unique little girl who shared the exact same features as Lean but she was oblivious to her beauty. And that's what made her special.
Taryn's heart was as warm, kind and beautiful as she was. Everyone knew she'd most likely end up with Lean. If things didn't work out with Amry he would HAVE to marry Taryn because the Alpha had to either find a mate from another pride or the spot would automatically go to the strongest female in the pride. Taryn may be the most beautiful of all the Leonids that existed but she was a tomboy. She didn't care about boys. She worried mostly about her family and pride like a good leader should.
Amry with her emerald eyes, auburn hair and naturally tanned skin was the opposite of her. She cared more about her appearance and couldn't lead a hunt if her life depended on it. Nevertheless, Lean refused to give up on her and forgave her for every one of her mistakes-like always. The thing was, Lean couldn't help but forgive people. Under his handsome face and muscular body he had the biggest heart ever.
But neither Taryn nor Lean loved each other like mates. No. Their love went deeper than that. They were like brother and sister and more importantly best friends and that's all they would ever be. Nothing more, nothing less.
