15th June, 2063

The Light warmed my face as it slipped in through my curtains. I couldn't bare the thought of getting out of bed, so, many excuses on how I could avoid school rushed through my head. Although, I knew that there was no way I could stay off, since it was our first day back after study leave. After I completed all of my exams, I didn't want to even think about starting my new subjects.
"Alison!, hurry up, your going to be late if you don't get up," my mum shouted from the bottom of the stairs.
I sighed and stepped out of bed, while simultaneously picking up my phone from my bed side table. I turned it on to see multiple messages from Cassie.

'ALI!, u better be coming to school' - 6:45AM
'Come on, Ali, I mean it! I will not spend the first day back by myself' - 6:55AM
'WAKE UP!' - 7:05Am

I smiled while reading her paranoid texts and quickly replied to her saying that I was going to school. I then quickly got washed and dressed into my uniform. As I reached for my school tie, I realised how much I haven't missed wearing it and now much I haven't missed school in general. Once fully clothed I dried my hair, I was actually quite lucky because once my hair was dry I could just leave it. It had a slight wave to it and sat relatively nice on its own. Makeup for school was simple, it consisted of concealer, bronzer, mascara, and fixing up my eyebrows.

I quickly ran into the kitchen and grabbed a slice of toast that my mum had made for me, and then headed outside onto the driveway, where Cassie was waiting to pick me up. She pressed a button and opened the passenger door just in time for me to jump inside.

"Hey!" She said as I fidgeted about with my seatbelt.

"Hey, I feel like I haven't seen you in forever" I replied as my seatbelt finally clicked into place.

"I know! It's been weeks, but today will be great, I can't wait to get to school"

Cassie loved doing work, homework, even exams, she pretty much loved everything and anything school related, which was the complete opposite of me.

"Why! How could you be excited to get to that place"

"oh, come on Ali, it will be great, and you will get to see Matt"

" Ugh Cass, how many times do I have to tell you, I don't like him"

" Yes you do, anybody could see it"

I narrowed my eyes at her as she pulled into the school car park. Already the sight of people I knew made me feel nauseous and want to tear off my face.

We both walked down the school corridor and stopped at our lockers. They are next to one another, which is actually How we became friends. I put my folders and ring-binders into mine and closed the door, as I turned I noticed Matt Summers in the corner of my eye, he was walking down the corridor past us with some of his friends.

"Oh, look who it is haha" Cassie said as she closed her locker.

The noise of the bell ringing became familiar to my ears as I gave Cassie an embarrassed frown and headed to my first class.

Okay, so maybe I do kind of like Matt, but it wasn't as if I was completely lying about not liking him. Matt used to live next door to me when we were little and we often played together, but when he moved house it was like he became a different person. Now he acts like he doesn't even know me and I haven't spoken to him since he moved. My mum would phone up every so often to ask if he wanted to come over, but he always declined. I want to hate him, and I think I do sometimes, but there's still that part of me that remembers what he was like when we were 7.
