First day at my new school... What were the kids going to think of me? We're they going to Laugh at me? I chuckled at the thought of people laughing at me in general. All I had to do was show them I'm in charge around here. I brushed back my short brown hair, adjusted my black rimmed glasses and turned the knob to my first period class. Chaos. Fantastic. I let out a heavy sigh and approached the front of the room.
"Class?" I politely asked for their attention.
"CLASS!!" I screeched at them a second time. This time they saw me and got to their seats.
"Good morning class, my name is Ms. Berti, and I will be your new teacher."
I turned my back to the class for a moment and picked up a purple marker. The class was so quiet you could hear the marker squeak against the white board, leaving marks to make up my name. As I turned back to the class, I saw a girl in the front row with her haid raised and mouth curved to a smile. I cleared my throat and ignored her."Ok, then. first things first... " I picked up a meterstick laying adjacent on my desk. I paced around, studying the new faces of my class. "Welcome to first period science class evryone. I will have a seating chart by tomorrow, once I learn all of your names... The arrangement wi-"
"Ahem...?" the Girl in the front row was no longer smiling, and she was flailing her arm around impatiently. "My hand is raised Ms.B!" she confidently announced.
I led my gaze over to her, glaring at her raised hand. "What?" I snapped through gritted teeth. The class mumbled to their temporary lab partners. "I want silence." I quickly said, switching my stare to the rest of the class for a moment, then back to the girl. The girl wasn't afraid of me. She just smiled, lowered her hand, and stared back at me with big grey eyes. It made me furious.
"Hi, I'm misty." the girl said, holding out a friendly hand for me to shake. I squinted at her and took her hand to shake. ZAP! Misty had a joy buzzer on her hand, and as soon as I touched it I felt a jolt of electricity go in my arm and throughout my body. I jumped slightly and drew my hand back. The class chuckled while Misty lounged back In her seat, and I sat looking confused.
One thing with this stood out that caused me to be confused was that As I looked at Missy's hand, there was no joy buzzer, or anything on the hand that I shook. Just a pale palm.
"So you like to play games... Huh?" I mumbled and rubbled my hand. "Then let the games begin"
