Dale: So is it recording or isn't it?
Rowan: I don't know, is it recording when that light is on? Or is it when it's off?
Dale: Show me?(white noise)
Dale: Yep. It's on.
Rowan: Cool. (Excited) Hi!
Dale: Hey hey hey! Stop it with the shouting, I'm still not awake yet...(Pause)
Rowan: Reckon anyone will ever hear this tape?
Dale: (hastily) I don't know, why don't you go ask Sarah? She's got a better idea bout that sorta stuff.
Rowan: Okay, sure thing. How d'you turn this thing off?
Dale: It's right there-there-there-there-(tape loops)
(Tape cuts out)***
Ellie: Is it on? Is it on?
Rowan: Yeah, I think so.(White noise)
Ellie: Erm, hello. My name is Ellie, I'm 14, I'm from England so I sound a little different to everyone else, I guess. That's a place that used to be... I mean, before the war- but you know all that stuff of course.
(Pause)
Ellie: Rowan, I love this thing. Can I keep it?
Rowan: Mmm. I don't know, I was thinking we could use it to record some songs? Anyways, you know the rule: finders keepers.
Sarah: Why?
Ellie and Rowan (together): Why what?
Sarah: Why'd you want it? No one will hear you, aside us if we ever work out how to play the tapes back...
Ellie: I guess.
Sarah: Where'd you get that thing anyway?
Rowan: I went gathering with Dale. I was bored; so I went through this apartment in Connection House. It was in one of the drawers. Seemed like some old guy's old place... Thirty two B I think.
Sarah: Right...
Rowan: Hey, Ellie, do you wanna go ask Dale where exactly it was?
Ellie: Okay.(Pause)
(Door squeak)Sarah: What's up, Rowan?
Rowan: Do you think we'll ever find other people? Do you think these audio tracks... do you think they'll ever be found?
Sarah: Probably not.
Rowan: You think we're the last?
Sarah: At least round here, yeah. We're lucky we got as many as we do. Plus, it's been like three years since we found you, no one would survive on their own...
(Pause)Rowan: Can we record that song tomorrow?
Sarah: Yeah alright. Call her in.(Door squeak)
Sarah: Oh, hi. We were just gonna call you-
Ellie: I know, I heard you.
Sarah: Oh... Okay...(Pause)
Rowan: Do you wanna drum tomorrow when we record?
Ellie: Yeah! Sure!(Pause)
Sarah: You may wanna save some battery on that thing for now until then, if you're gonna record.
Rowan: Oh, right, yeah.Ellie: Hey, Rowan-
(Tape cuts out)
