"Time a fly though" I say as my mother wakes me to go to school.
I had been up all night reading over every note in my books. It was that time of the year. Where I had to take a test for every class. I put my things together in an effort to feel more awake before taking a shower. The shower is cold at 4:30 in the morning but living so far from the famous The Queen's School while attending it for five years, I have grown to like it since it wakes me up.
Before leaving, I collect my money and tell my parents later. As I get outside, I frown. The sleep is now tearing at my eyes and I can't help but want to crawl right back in bed. But I can't. I start my journey before I get anymore bright ideas.
The journey to my school takes a little under 2 hours and I get there late but not too late. The school yard is littered with students trying to get to their first classes.
I head straight for my class and manage to get there before my teacher does. Being as my friend list has decreased to 6 persons, I am greeted by Nickisha, the number one reason I don't mind my short list of friends.
"Test today right?? " I say taking a seat next to her.
"Yea... you study?? " Her voice curious and slightly panicked.
"Yea. Stayed up all night too. "
We stand to acknowledge our teacher and she immediately passes out test papers as soon as we sit.
"You will only need your pens and am sure pens don't talk so I don't get why you are so noisy. " She says in an attempt to get the class to be quiet.
In no time, the class is over. The rest of the day goes alright being as the people I despise are not at school.
My favourite part of the day is here. I get to go home. I have to catch up on some sleep and go over more notes so I head home as soon as we are dismissed. I take a bus Downtown and of course, because I am in uniform, I wait a while to get a bus. To pass the time, I study everyone I see. There was one person in particular that caught my eye however. He is a tall, dark, handsome male. He is dressed a orange dress shirt, a black tie and black dress pants. His body structure is what most would call thick, his hair is black, low and curly, his full lips are dark but you can tell he doesn't smoke.
He keeps exiting and entering the bus and gives me a look of curiosity now and then but I dart my eyes away each time.
"Schoolaz, you ready??" The conductor says looking at me for my reply with one hand in the air. I nod and follow him to the same bus as the man and I think to myself (he looks to be about 25)... I'm 17 so that seemed to be too much... yet I couldn't help but stare at him as I sit behind him.
I know he could never want me but I just couldn't stop admiring his clean cut shave, the way he listens to music and nod his head to the beat as if no one else can see him and the way he stares out the window as if there is a million things on his mind.
I can't help but like him, right then and there even if I don't want to admit it to myself. I start to think of what my mother would think of this and I even think of what she would say if we were together. My mind drifts off and before I know it, we're in Old Harbour. I don't get off however. I'm not at my stop but this is the main one so most people get out. Including him. I was secretly hoping that he lived closer to me but I obviously have no such luck. I watch him fix his shirt as the bus continues it's journey. He doesn't look at me though. Good. He would've thought I was creepy anyways.
When I get home, I do just what I set out to do. Sleep before eating and studying.
