I open my eyes slightly but the blinding sunlight from our hotel room balcony makes it so hard and keeps my eyes shut back. “Ugh, Kristine the sunlight is too much! Close that fucking door!” keeping my eyes close I heard her stifle a laugh. “Grow up Lia! We’re in Waikiki! Beach and HOT boys are on the go so just stand and get yourself prepared for we are going downtown!” she smirk; I answer her wit a groan. But then I decided to just shrug it off and take a shower, no use of fighting with her when I know she’ll win on the end.

We wander along Waikiki, every street and beach but we decided to just stay dry from the sea water today. We ate a little and shop for a while for some souvenirs we could brought home after a month of staying here. When the moon lightens up the dark firmament, you can tell that lots of pubs were on and very much alive and even from the outside look you can say everyone inside is having fun. We settle to a small pub near the beach, it’s not that isolated but a very few people were in here. We ordered food and a couple of drinks for a night of celebration us having our first day at Hawaii. The performers were more of soulful singers singing love songs like we were having a candle light dinner with our lovers but it kind of feel soothing to our soul since back in LA, buzz of odd noises and extreme stress from work is what we’re dealing with. “Don’t you find Waikiki so fantastic and incredibly beautiful eh? Those beaches are one heck of a paradise!” Kristine squealed “I know right, and everyone is so wonderful and kind” I agree, the place was like paradise to me it can give you joy and assurance of nothing bad will ever happen while you’re here no procrastinations or whatsoever living the free and enjoyable moment. “Thank you. Really Kris for taking me here with you.” I beam, “No problem Lia, but so sorry on Wednesday I’ll be starting to work on my assigned job downtown I won’t be as much with you, though you can explore the island by yourself I won’t hold you hostage at the hotel while I’m busy” she says and winked. We both laugh at her gesture then continue eating. Before digging into our sweets a voice that was so mesmerizing blared up the whole place, a guy singing MJ’s ‘the way you make me feel’ and his version is more of a doo-wop style and its beautiful and so smooth for the ears. I look up to the guy at the elevated platform. His eyes closed his fingers softly strumming the strings of the guitar he was holding then he smile, fuck! He got them perfect white teeth and cute dimples. I stare. Almost drooling I snap from my trance when Kristine waves a hand right in front of my face “What are you looking at, a ghost? ---- perhaps that HOT guy over there?” she nodded towards the guy on the stage, I reluctantly follow her gaze. BOOM! A pair of warm brown eyes looking back at me kind of big though, I chuckle. He’s beautiful I feel my cheeks burn from the sudden awkwardness I’m feeling. I look down and stared on my food pretending to be busy eating. He played a few more MJ songs then it comes to a song that I never heard before EVER.

*I've been working hard so long seems like pain has been my only friend my fragile heart's been done so wrong I wondered if I I'd ever heal again oh just like all the seasons never stay the same all around me I can feel a change I will break these chains that bind me, happiness will find me leave the past behind me, today my life begins a whole new world is waiting it's mine for the taking I know I can make it, today my life begins*

He smiles at me then to Kristine then to the girl from the other table, and I get it! he’s just doing what ol’ performers do; Pleasing his audience and he almost got me there. I frowned, a little disappointed to my realization. We finished our dinner and went back to our hotel; we change into our pajamas and lay down the bed.
