Chapter 1: Am I The Only One?

Well now I'm in the 11th grade and I have my friend Anika McCain who has always been there for me. .. walking down the hallway with Anika by my side " Did you get the book from the library? " she asks me and I tilt my head " What book ?" I ask in a confused voice "Don't tell me you forgot Mollie " then I make a face and shrug " The big book with that thing on it that looks like a seal" she explains "ohh that book " I say "The book of Mysteries?"
"Hmm yeah. ..I think that's the name" says Anika

"What do you want to use it for anyway?"

"I think it might have something that can help you..."

"Help me?" I ask

"Your telepathic powers" she whispers

Anika is the only person who knows about my powers I told her when we were in the 7th grade because I couldn't keep it all to myself... now it's our little secret from everyone else even my parents... I trust Anika cause she's really good at keeping secrets.

"Do you think the book would have something like that. .. I mean isn't telepathy somewhat like a superstition but I don't know where I got mine from though-"

"C'mon Mollie it's worth a shot... just give it a shot " she says cutting me off

"Ok fine,I'll get the book..."I say and Anika smiles

We both get our books from our lockers which are side by side and head to class.... After school I quickly go to the library with Anika of course to lend the book "Thank you Ma'am" Anika and I said in unison to the Librarian after we lent the book "You are welcome" she replied then we both left.

Anika followed me home to help me with the whole thing,starting from the contents of the book we flipped and flipped it was so dusty and too big -I wondered when we were gonna be done doing this- it was kinda stressful ...then Bingo! I found it TELEPATHY I turned to Anika and she looked back at me then we turned back to the book and I opened the page where it was and I began to look for what would help me solve my problem - that is how I could control my power - but I found nothing, I checked again, nothing!

Then Anika called my attention to something she had found "Mollie look" she said and I looked at what she was pointing out "It says here that there's some kind of circle...I don't think that your power is some kind of mistake ,I think it's a generational thing... which means. .." we both look at each other.

"My parents might know something about it" I say ,eyes wide open .

Anika continues reading "and about the circle...it says that there are about seven of your kind but of different powers and when the time comes ...em!!"Anika exclaims as she flips the next page open

"So what does it say again?" I ask "It's blank..nothing is written here,how can that be?"Anika questions herself ; I look at her confused and grab the book from her.
