It was an average school day.

I went to all my classes, took tests, talked to my best friend Ally, and watched Lauren act like I'm invisible.

Tho only thing different about today was the hundreds of Halloween party fliers hung up around the school.

They were everywhere!

I was surprised mom even let Lauren have a party.

The last time she tried to throw one, someone brought alcohol and got Lauren drunk.

When mom found out, she grounded Lauren for a month and we weren't able to throw any parties since.

I didn't care, though. Parties aren't really my scene.

I'd rather be at the movies or in my room listening to music.

"Here you go!" Lauren said, handing me a flier to the party.

"You're inviting me?" I asked her.

She laughed. "Yeah! Can't I ever just be a good sister?"

"No," I replied, "Mom told you to, didn't she?"

"Duh!" She spat, "Why would I invite my unpopular freshman sister to a popular Junior Halloween party?"

"Don't worry! I'm not going" I said.

"Yeah you are. Mom said so. If you don't come, I can't have a party!"

"Do you think I care?" I asked her.

"Umm... Ok. I'll pay you!" She yelled desperately, "Five dollars per hour?"

I shook my head. "Ten"

Lauren rolled her eyes. "Fine! But you have to wear a costume!"

I gave her a thumbs up and walked upstairs to my room to call Ally.

I was NOT going to that party alone.

"Hey, Al!" I said when she picked up.

"Hey!" She replied.

"So... You know that Halloween party Lauren's throwing?"

"How could I not? There were six fliers taped to the back of my shirt."

I laughed.

"Lauren's making me go, so you are too."

"But it's in two days!" She whined.

"Exactly! That's why we're going costume shopping in an hour."

"Ok! Whatever!" She said.

Then she hung up.

I put my phone down and looked in the mirror, trying to imagine myself in a cute costume.

Maybe I could be a pirate. I imagined myself with an eyepatch.

No.

Bzzzzzzzzzzzz!

My phone vibrated.

I walked over to my bed and picked it up. It said I had a new message, so I unlocked it to see who it was from.

The number was unknown, so I put my phone back on my bed.

But when I walked back over to my mirror, someone else was in the reflection.

It was an old woman with gray hair and many wrinkles.
