I finally convinced Logan to let me drive to stars hollow so that way he could get to talk a little bit more to Lena; it was endearing how nervous he was about it.
"You've met her before."
"Not having spent a full day with her, as her father."
"You're her Dad, don't say father, that's what Mitchum is." I shot out before thinking, "Logan, I'm sorry."
"Don't be, it's true. Both my parents were just petri dishes." He chuckled
"Ahaha, fair enough. I'm sure glad it produced you though, and Honour even if she's a little crazy right now."
"She's just hormonal, not truly crazy. To be truly crazy your last name would have to be Gilmore and to be a disappointment your name would be Lorelai." I sighed,
"C'mon, Logan can shoulder some disappointment too." He laughed,
"I guess that's fair."
"And I think Rory, is a lot less of a disappointment then you think she is." Logan smiled and kissed my cheek, I smiled as I drove down the street, going back to Stars Hollow. Which used to be home because that's where my mom lived, and then New York became, is, my home because that's where Lena and I found home and where I found my sea legs and now New York is home to her father, love of my life, Logan...
"I get anything?" Lena asked looking up at Logan or Hogan as she kept referring to him, until she was comfortable with 'Daddy',
That's right, and I get to spend the day with you and Mom. If you want?"
"I want," Lena smiled, her legs swinging and I tried to tie up her boots
"Honey, stop your legs please."
"Okay Mommy." She smiled,
"Buying her everything she wants isn't being Dad." I whispered to Logan while I grabbed her jacket,
"How about buying you're a birthday present." He smiled, "Didn't I miss that a few weeks ago?"
"2 weeks and it doesn't matter. Sweetie, go say bye bye to Butch and Nana." I helped her down from the bench and she ran to hug my mom,
"Did you bring anything else for me Logan?" she smiled at him,
"Not today Lorelai."
"You sound like her dealer," I whispered, he smiled and kissed me on the cheek,
"Rory?" Mom asked, I turned and she mouthed 'What's that about?' and I mouthed back to her 'later' which I knew wouldn't get me much time she's already on me about spending the night at Logan's. After Lena said good bye we were off to the mall. I know that people are probably thinking that I'm being rude but girlfriend Rory and Mommy Rory are too very different girls and I didn't want Logan to try and buy Lena's affection but I really don't think he was going to do that.
"A goldy." Lena told Logan when I approached them with ice cream
"What's a goldy?" Logan asked, as I handed him his ice cream cone and I about snorted,
"Baby, whats a goldy?"
"Goldy fish." She said like this was common knowledge, I handed her a bowl with ice cream, we had tried a cone and she dropped it and there were tears and it just wasn't good, we, by that I mean Logan, had already gotten her a couple of things and daughter after my own heart. We bought her two books at Mastermind and got her a reading game that I play with her, a craft kit to keep her hand busy and out of trouble and got her a toy elephant they are her favourite animal in the world and it was bigger for her to carry about but it was soft and she loved it,
"You want a goldfish?" Logan asked, him trying to understand her speech was priceless
"Yes."
"We should check with Ror-Mommy about that." He smiled at me, one thing I really appreciated was that he understood communication between parents he wouldn't buy her anything without my permission,
"Mommy, can I have a fishy?" she asked, this is something that she asked about when she was about a year old and I told her when she was older and I thought about it and was okay with getting it,
"You sure can, but you have to help take care of it. It's not going to be Mommy's job, okay?"
"Okay Mommy, will Hogan help take care of her too?" she asked me as she ate her ice cream,
"When he's over, yes."
"Hogan doesn't live with us?"
"No honey, he has his own apartment."
"Why?" she asked, while I loved that she was inquisitive and learned from asking questions about Logan was going to get complicated. We were just starting out a relationship and I didn't want to confuse her,
"That's because Daddy and Mommy aren't married."
"Then get married."
"It doesn't work that way honey."
"Okay." She shrugged and ate her ice cream. I looked up and Logan and he shrugged, telling her we were dating was going to confuse a lot,
"How about I sleep over on weekends?" Logan asked both of us, Lena's face lit up and I smiled too,
"That sounds good." I smiled at him, "How about we finish our ice cream and then we can go get Goldy."
"Yay!" Lena smiled and took a big spoonful of ice cream
"Is that going to be its name?" Logan asked
"Yep." Lena said around her ice cream and Logan just smiled. We headed off to the pet store after a trip through Toys R Us, Lena loved Lego's so we bought her a princess Lego and a couple puzzles for her to do. Logan was surprised at how much she enjoyed the same things that I did that actually helped her develop her mind. Logan underestimates himself but he is really smart and the two of us maybe have been stupid about buying condoms for the most part we were really smart people and we seems to have passed it down to Lena.
"Fishies!" Lena clapped as we entered the store.
"We are buying one fish right?" Logan looked at little concerned,
"You didn't promise to buy her the cast of finding Nemo did you?"
"What the hell is that?"
"Gonna go with no." I smiled,
"I like this one." Lena had already parked herself in front of a fish tank with a polka dotted fish that came right up to the glass, like a puppy.
"Okay, excuse me." Logan waved up a teenage boy that worked there, "We want that polka dotted fish there."
"Okay, do you have a fish tank at home?" he asked, Logan bit his cheek, "Bro, I don't work on commission I just don't want your fish to...well ya know." He drew a finger across neck,
"No, we don't. Do we really need a tank for one fish?"
"You can get a smaller one and it comes with a filter so you don't have to clean it out by hand as often." He explained,
"Okay, which one do you recommend?' Logan asked the teenage boy with a tag that said 'Ben',
"This one is most popular and this size for just one fish."
"Alright, wrap up that fish tank, get some pink gravel. Get everything else it needs and then give us that polka dot fish." Logan instructed, and the kid nodded and got everything together for us and agreed to come by after work to put it all together for us after Logan offered him $50.
