"Grantley Adams International Airlines is pleased to announce the final boarding call for first and business class to L.A.X Airlines, flight 31 with non-stop service to Los Angeles, California. All ticketed and confirmed passengers should now be on board from gate A22."

I gave the lady my boarding ticket and once she stamped it and passed it to me, i walked right through the airplanes' doors and put my suitcase in the overhead. As i sat down in the window seat- which was in one of the very first rows- i looked out at the beautiful sunrise in the place i was born and raised; Bridgetown, Barbados.

About 2 weeks ago i got a job offer in L.A. as an athletic trainer for the Lakers. With the pay i was receiving, the offers that came with the deal and the opportunity at hand, there was no way i was turning this down.

I was gonna miss my parents and my sisters, but i had to do what's best for me that way i can provide what's best for them. Even with the job being in a whole 'nother country and i would know no one there... i was ready.

Originally, I was just going to train the players, make sure everything was good and would be their go-to if anything went wrong... Turns out, all of that changed when the rookie point guard injured his right hand and I had to fly out 2 weeks earlier than expected.

Now i sit on this plane, saddened yet excited.

"Coach when's your A.T coming? I gotta get this hand fixed in a reasonable time period, especially because we play next week against both Kyrie & A.D."

"And y'all know Kyrie's gonna start going ham ever since he got played... by a hoe who make songs about getting played." Nick chuckled.

The whole weight room busted out laughing, and even though it was a joke- he was probably right.

Once we died down, coach answered my question. "I know Russ, i know. She's coming in on the 2:30 flight and as soon as she touches down, a driver will be there to pick her up and she's coming straight here."

"This is just D's A.T or she gonna be working for the team?" Kobe asked as he did burpees.

"For the team, but she's obviously going to have a lot more one-on-one time with Russ for now because he's injured."

We all nodded our heads in understanding matters as we continued to work out. I looked at my wrapped up hand and the only thought running through my head,

"She can't get here fast enough."

I was awaken by the Blonde flight attendant tapping on my shoulders to let me know we have arrived.

I quickly hopped up and grabbed my bags remembering i was on a schedule. Time is money.

Once I checked i had everything, I said my goodbyes to the flight crew and nearly ran off the plane. I went to baggage claim to get the bags that weren't on the plane. While i waited, i spoke to my mom and dad- letting them know i made it safely. About 15 minutes later, i rushed out of the airport and into the sunny L.A weather.

Checking the time, it was 2;49. Looking around for any sign of anything Lakers related- i finally found a short, buff guy holding up a sign which read my name and was standing next to a yellow car with Kobe Bryant on the hood. I walked over and he took my bags as i sat in the backseat.
