"So ya wanna hear my story huh? I guess I might as well tell ya."
--------------------
"Hurry up Petra! We'll be late!"
That raggedy old cu-
"Yes mother," I spit out.
I sluggishly walk into the mansion.
I wish it was just a normal little house."Better posture!"
I stand up straight and walk a bit faster, "Of course mother."
I wish she would just keel over and die.
I make my way to my room.
Pink.
So much pink.
What a hideous color.
I silently swear to myself as I lean against the door.
"Oh, Miss Petra! We need to quickly get you changed!"
"There's no rush Tia."
"Your mother will be furious!"
"She always is. Maybe if she gets mad enough, one of her veins will burst open and she'll just die."
Tia snickers, I smile. We both share a hatred for my mother, hers no where near as strong as mine. I walk over to my changing curtain and begin changing from my navy blue T-shirt and shorts into a lavender dress. It's one of the more plain ones. It's one of my favorites but I still hate it. It's still got lacey bits and is a bit poofy at the bottom but ehhh. I at least got to choose this time... mostly.
"Oh Petra! You look lovely!"
I feel my cheeks turn a shade of pink.
F*ck
"Uuhh, th-thanks Tia," I say whilst seemingly mesmerized in her gaze.
She giggles, "I'll quickly do the rest of you up then right after, run."
"Got it!"
___________
"Do I look like a drag queen again?"
"I don't know. You be the judge of that."
She hands me a mirror.
"Tia, I look like a drag queen again."
"You always say that."
"Ey! Well I do look like I'm in fishy drag!"
"Cuz I'm just that good."
We share a good laugh until, "PETRA GET DOWN HERE THIS INSTANT!!"
"Oh great."
"You should go."
"Alrighty. See ya around Tia!"
"Goodbye Miss Petra."
I quickly run out, down the hall, make a right, down the stairs, down another hall and into the entrance room.
What? I never cared to learn the proper term so I don't intend to use it. Why? Cuz my mom is sooo persistent that I have a fancy vocabulary.
"Why did that take you so long? Was it Tiana? I swear I'm going to-"
"NO! Mother, it was umm, me. I was distracting her."
"Hmm... I'll deal with you later. Right now, we are going to see you a new suitor."
"Seriou-"
"Petra."
