Yaku Morisuke hated Haiba Lev. Well, maybe hated wasn't the right word; Yaku cared about everyone to some extent. But it was safe to say that Lev was an enormous annoyance to him. Sometimes Yaku wondered how on earth they had survived living in a dorm together for three and a half months of college. How could someone he barely knew piss him off so much? Yaku could go on for hours about the things he disliked about the guy. For one thing; his height. Lev towered a whole thirty centimeters above Morisuke. And it's not like Yaku wasn't used to being shorter than other people, he knew very well how vertically challenged he was, but Lev was just impossibly tall. That and the man's energetic attitude and constant blabbering felt like he was mocking Yaku. Anytime he accused Lev of mockery he looked confused and offended and told Yaku he was doing no such thing. Morisuke couldn't believe how ignorant and inconsiderate Lev was; it was like his mind had never matured past the age of twelve. Every morning Yaku had to practically drag the guy out of bed and to their classes and each night it was nearly impossible to get him to fall asleep. Yaku remembered one time he left an energy drink on the counter and Lev mistook it for a soda. The twelve hours following were some of the worst of his life. So, yeah, living with Lev was more of a full-time job than anything else.
"Lev, we have a lecture in ten minutes, if we don't leave now we'll never make it in time," Yaku said, pulling the covers off of the half-conscious man.
"We'll be fine... Just let me rest a little more..." Lev grumbled into his pillow.
Morisuke lightly shook Lev's sholder. "Lev, really, we have to go! If you get up now I'll... I'll buy you food after our classes."
With that Lev shot up from the sheets. "Do you mean it Yaku-san?! Okay I'll be ready to go in a minute!"
Yaku watched in mild amusement as Lev tripped over himself trying to pull on clothes and eat as quickly as possible.
"Okay let's go!" Lev said, staring at Yaku with his piercing bright green eyes. He reached out to open the door but Yaku stopped him and gestured for him to lean down. Lev lowered his face to the smaller man's and Yaku tucked back the stray silver hairs sticking out of his head. A light blush spread over Lev's face and he looked away in embarrassment.
"Oops, I kinda forgot to brush my hair," he mumbled. "You could have just told me it was messed up Yaku-san."
"Please, like I don't already do everything for you."
As the two left their room and headed out the door Yaku swore he heard Lev say something along the lines of 'thanks, mom' under his breath.

Their class was on the side of the campus opposite to their dorm, a short walk across an open outdoor area. The sun had already risen but it was hidden behind layers of clouds making the morning bitter cold and quite dull. And the fact that it looked as if it were going to rain didn't help lighten the mood. As they walked (well, more like sprinted) across the campus, Morisuke wondered if offering to buy food for Lev was a mistake. Did he really want to spend more money on the half-Russian than he already did? He was broke enough as it was. But for whatever reason Yaku usually ended up buying meals for Lev. Apparently his parents had never taught him how to cook when he lived with them and Yaku couldn't count the number of times Lev nearly burned the dorm to the ground even trying to make ramen. Lev obviously couldn't survive on his own and it had become Yaku's duty to take care of him.
Thankfully class hadn't started yet by the time Yaku and Lev arrived. When they stepped into lecture hall they parted and found their friends, Lev navigating towards his fellow college first years Inuoka and Shibayama, and Yaku settling beside Kai. Kuroo chatted with Yamamoto and Kenma sat by his side, lost in the game he was playing on his 3DS.
"So, how's Haiba been treating you?" Kai asked Yaku once they had sat down in their seats.
"He's a total pain in my ass. Seriously. He can't do a single thing for himself."
The seniors watched as Lev stole something of Inuoka's, giggling as he held it high above his head making Inuoka jump to reach it.
"You have to give him some credit though. He's a good guy. I've never heard him say a bad thing about anyone. And sometimes you never know how much you need someone with that much energy in your life," said Kai.
"Oh, don't even get me started on his energy..."
Kai laughed. "Yeah, if only I still had that kind of spirit. You know, sometimes I miss my first year of college. It was so fun getting to meet new people and go to fun events and stay up all night. Now I'm a total wreck if I don't get more than 6 hours of sleep and all-nighters are out of the question unless I'm cramming. Being an adult is tough."
"Yeah, I know what you mean," said Yaku.
Throughout the lecture Yaku thought about what Kai said about Lev's high spirit and enthusiasm doing him good. Yaku did admit to himself that there were times he was envious of Lev's youth and innocence and that there was something appealing about him. It was like his happiness rubbed off on others around him. And he never had any trouble making new friends despite looking a bit intimidating due to his height. As much as Lev pestered and annoyed him, Yaku knew Lev really cared about him and was even grateful for the attention and guidance Yaku provided him with.

Once all their classes were over, Yaku and Lev met in a hallway and peered outside the windows. As Yaku had suspected, it was pouring. No way they would make it back to the dorm dry.
"Huh..." said Lev, observing the falling rain. He looked slightly nervous and Yaku had no idea as to why.
"I don't think waiting it out is an option, it doesn't look like it's gonna stop anytime soon. I guess we'll have to make a run for it," Yaku said.
Lev turned to face him. "What about my treat?"
"Treat...?"
"Yeah, you said this morning you would buy me something after class!"
Dammit, why did Yaku have to promise Lev food on such a stormy day? "Lev, it's too wet to go to the convenience store or eat dinner at any restaurant, we'll be soaked by the time we get home. Just get something from the vending machine and let's call it a night. I'll make us dinner at the dorm."
"You'll make us dinner? That's even better!" Lev beamed and hugged the smaller boy, nearly lifting him off the ground. Yaku squirmed out of Lev's arms, a bit flustered from the sudden praise and contact.
"Yeah, well, I'll take it back if we don't get moving, I don't want the storm to get worse."
Lev got a candy bar from a nearby vending machine and he and Yaku made their way to the doors that lead outside to the downpour. Neither of them had brought umbrellas and the warmest thing Yaku had on was only a light sweater. Lev, however, had a very large coat which he took off his shoulders and adjusted so it covered them both, pulling Yaku in. Yaku could feel the tall man's heat radiating against his side where their bodies pressed together.
"Huh? What- Lev you don't have to-"
"I don't want you to get wet, Yaku. If you get sick who's going to make me dinner?" Lev laughed and Yaku elbowed him in the side.
"Idiot... Anyway, let's head out. Run as fast as you can to the room in 3... 2... 1... NOW!" Yaku yelled and they began to sprint through the rain.
