Mystique

Episodes beyond reason and explanation occur in our daily lives without us noticing them. We tend to indulge profusely in lust and greed which overpowers our own sensitivity and inner prowess. Fate and destiny are, most of the times and incredibly, influenced by either a curse or witchcraft. Ordinarily, our mind tends to understand what the eyes can see and what our ears can hear. But there are a lot of things happening more than what our basic senses can comprehend. A clairvoyant encounters moments wherein no reason can justify that causes fear and panic to whoever is experiencing such dreadful circumstances.

            Coexistence is the best suited word to describe scenarios of mysterious interruption or intrusion. All also need space and respect. The more notorious mythical creatures like the gnomes and nymphs create deceiving obsessions and fascinations which seem real. They can also inflict harm on human beings out of sheer amusement. Such injuries can only be cast away by preternatural mediums or faith healers, as they say.

There once lived a lady named Alexandria who was successful in her career but, unfortunately, left alone on her own by her husband for reasons she could bear because of the intense blow of stinging sorrow on her whole being. Though she had more than she can ever ask from in her life, Alexandria eagerly desire for a man who will love her and take good care of until their old age. The memories of their life together made her want to go crazy at times and she would sulk herself into an ocean of tears. The feeling of desolation added to her misery. Loneliness entirely engulfed her so she had finally decided to leave their home and went to find a place she could rent out.

Alas! She finally found a strange but modestly beautiful place. An old lady named Lily received Alexandria and invited her into her living room and offered her a cup of coffee. A twinge of strangeness enveloped her very being. Alexandria could not explain why she felt at home instantly. Lily showed her the room and the atmosphere appeared bizarrely enticing and unusually satisfying. Throughout their conversation, Lily never got tired of listening to Alexandria until they agreed upon the rate of the monthly rental and all its inclusions. The deal was arranged before nightfall and Alexandria decided to occupy the declared space the very next day.

Spontaneously, as if an extraordinarily unseen presence welcomed her and felt her inner pains and desires. An eerie gush of wind passed her and a voiceless fear wrapped her but a strange feeling of serenity hushed her entire being. A figment of her own imagination made her think that the presence has a likeness to the Greek god Eros or the Roman love god Cupid. However, she chose to ignore it. She placed her stuffs on her table then sat on her couch. After a minute or two, she decided to take a bath and put on some comfortable clothes for the night. Upon going back to her table to work on the article she was assigned by her company to finish that same weekend, astonishingly, her things were nowhere to be found. She looked everywhere and ultimately got tired and unknowingly fell asleep in her bedroom.

Strange noises awoke her in the middle of the night. She thought that the sounds were simply made by the cats owned by Lily. She shrugged off her creepy hunches and went back to her interrupted sleep. The following day, she horrifyingly saw her belongings right beside her but, upon seeing that she was to be late for office, she forgot about the whole strange incidents and hurriedly took a shower and got into her office uniform. She went back to her normal routine and reported early to her office which was two rides away from her residence.

Throughout the day, her superiors demandingly summoned her to several obligations which finally drained her energy. Upon reaching her new home, she hurriedly took a quick shower and decided to skip dinner due to extreme exhaustion. She instantly went into a deep slumber and dreamt of a faceless but gentle creature that seemingly caressed her hair in all gentleness. The touch was comforting and assuring but no words were ever uttered between the two of them. Alexandria, deep within herself, had a few encounters of this type before but did not give any attention to it thinking it was all a dream. This time around the scenery were vividly genuine. The place appeared familiar and the flowers in bloom released a sweet and relaxing scent but it left a disturbing and chilling feeling to Alexandria. An unfamiliar sound woke her up and she found out in puzzlement that she was profusely sweating in fear of something unknown.

The very next day, Alexandria packed up to find another place of residence away from where Lily was staying. She knew that she will still be chased around by her outwardly horrifying but, simultaneously, delightful pipedream. She realized that these occurrences will never leave her as if she is forever bound in a spell. Her spirit longed for it but her consciousness is still disturbed by the fittingly recurrent disturbances.
