Chapter 4:

Anoop's POV:

A hot water bath in these sub-zero temperatures after a long tiresome flight and freakishly hot looking guy commanding 'MINE' equals to the feeling of having died and gone to heaven – 'pure ecstasy'. If possible I would never come out of this bath. Any how, after Gabriel left for his pack meeting Anna showed me to my room. It's a beautiful and spacious room with wooden French windows leading to a balcony and the lilac curtains covering the windows were opened to reveal a view of the ominous woods outside. The floor is carpeted – a soft faux fur carpet. A four poster bed is adjacent to the windows and an old baroque style wardrobe placed opposite to the bed. Thankfully the room has internal heating. The room has an attached bathroom with a large shower area, which I am enjoying right now. I close my eyes and feel the warmth of the hot water streaming down my back and out of nowhere a pair of grey eyes flashes through my mind. Damn! Gabriel! That hot body of his is going be the undoing for me, I better be on guard. But it's not going to hurt to fantasize about him.... The commingling of the piercing looks of the owner of the grey eyes and the hot water running down my body has got me all overwhelmed and feeling hot down under. I am lost in this exquisite feeling when suddenly I hear a knock on my door. I shout from the shower, "who is it?"

"It's me Anna, its dinner time. You ready?" she shouts back.

"Oh ok I'll be down in a minute" I say while drying myself with a white fluffy towel.

"Ok."

As promised I got ready in a minute, and followed the delicious smell hoping it would lead me to the kitchen, and it did. While I was happy that I didn't get lost I saw that everyone was already seated, nicely dressed and talking. And I am wearing pyjamas and a jacket! Here they are all of them well dressed and I so embarrassingly under dressed. I could feel my cheeks getting redder by the second and ears going hot. God I feel like an alien.

Anna's mother noticed that I am standing awkwardly; "hey honey, come sit, we were waiting for you" and smiling sweetly at me.

I just smile and take a chair next to my brother; sitting beside me is Rachel (that minx) wearing a sexy little black dress. My brother is dressed in a blue T-shirt and faded jeans.

As I settle dinner is served and we begin to eat and everyone start discussing about the pack meeting from which Gabriel still hasn't returned. I just focus on eating oblivious to the mutterings around me because of two reasons; one the food is delicious, the chicken is amazing the dessert kept in front of me looks very appetizing so I can't wait to finish my main course and pounce on the dessert which is a mouth watering chocolate pie and two I am bloody hungry.

Anna's mom is smiling at me, "I take it that you like my cooking."

I must look like some hungry monster who has never seen food before; I wipe my mouth with a napkin, "It's really amazing, thank you Mrs. Lockwood."

"Oh!! Nonsense call me Clair, Mrs. Lockwood makes me feel very old."

"Thank you Clair" it feels odd calling elders with their first name, well in India we don't do that, it's like we are disrespecting them, we usually call them uncle or aunty.

"So I was talking to your brother here, he tells me that you are an ecologist working with tigers, it's interesting tell us more about it, and please do call me Richard" Anna's father asks looking directly into my eyes.

Hmm I wish they would go back to discussing about the pack meeting and not give me any attention, then I could have silently finished my food, taken a handsome serving of the chocolate pie and may be gone to bed. And now I have to talk about my work. Okay here goes nothing. "As a kid I was always interested in animals and the environment around us. I was always intrigued by the nature around me and during my childhood many a times I would disappear into the woods chasing butterflies, collecting spiders in my village. I would even persuade Raj to come with me and both of us would disappear into the woods for unusually long periods of time and this would drive our mother crazy, when we returned home covered in dirt and soiled clothes. So this childhood passion of mine turned into work. And I love my work." I remember those happy days, innocent and full of energy and fun, no responsibilities. Damn!! I miss those days.
