You walk out of the toilets feeling conscious and confused, you feel as if everyone is looking at you, you're frantically looking around to find some place alone, or for a familiar face, there's nowhere and there's no one you know. You find a corridor so you sit down and think. "What is going on?" "How do they know me?" "Who even are they?" "Were they the girls in my apartment block yesterday?" "Why do they not like me?" Thoughts were rushing through your head.

"-HAHAHAHA RIGHT THOUGH" mumblings came from right down the corridor as you see another group walking towards you and talking loudly holding drinks and food pricariously in their hands, some must have been drunk. You see aidan leading the crowd, girls are surrounding him and laughing, and flirting, and playfully touching him, and he's laughing and shouting and flirting back and suddenly, he's not the boy from the coffee house, he's not the shy person you thought he was.
Your eyes meet and you get up and head for the door.
Having to jostle through crowds you find the exit, you walk out of the glass doors and are greeted with the dark sky and the bright small stars and the honking of horns and the bustle of the city, and flashes of red and blue of the police cars and ambulances, and this isn't a small town in England, it's a big city, it's Los Angeles, and you aren't happy. This isn't what you thought it was.
You call an über, when he arrives you get in, "rough night?" He asks sounding tired, "hm, yeah, I guess" you say giving a sad smile. "You know, if it helps, you aren't the only person I've had to rescue alone from a party tonight" he says being comforting, "I can believe it" you say lightening up. It becomes the end of the ride and you get out, "how much do I owe you?" You ask, "you know what, nothing, seeing as it's your first day here" the driver says smiling, "hope tomorrow's better for you" he says and drives off. You can't help but smile to yourself, and just as you turn to go into the lobby you look at the moon,

I've always loved the sky, something about it. Whenever I feel lonely i look up, and wonder what it must be like to be miles away from anything, just like each of the stars, and suddenly as I reach back down to earth, I don't feel quite so alone.

You get into the lift, there is another person who seems to be going to the very top floor, you watch him press the button and wait for him to go, you can't help but wonder what is up on the very very top floor because there is another button which doesn't seem to have any rooms on it.
It is an old roof garden.
Concrete roof, with flowers around the edges, new flowers.
You sit down and look at the stars and just relax, thinking about what tomorrow will hold.
-
"hello?" You hear a voice say, "Katie?" It was aidan.
"oh" you say giving him a sad smile "hi"
"I couldn't find you at the party"
"Yeah I left. I um I figured out I had to do some unpacking"
"I know why you left, katie"
"What? I told you, I had to unpack"
"Katie i know you didn't know any one there"
"Yeah well it's my first day, I'm not going to know any one am I? It was horrible, and you said you would stick with me!" You said letting a tear well up in your eye.
"I know, I know, I'm sorry" he said looking down to the floor and sitting down next to you.
-There's a comfortable silence while you both think of something to say-
"it's beautiful up here isn't it" he says looking to the sky,
You both look up "who were those girls?" "Because they knew who I was, and they were talking about me" you say frowning
He reaches over and wipes your cheek with a soft finger, "they're friends of a friend, they probably just recognised you from earlier, they were with my friends and I couldn't just leave them, so I invited them round" he explained, he picked a flower "I used to come up here all the time, I've even coming up every night recently" he whispered before adding "look, you get to sleep"
"No, there's so many things I don't know, I'm so confused"  you said "I'm sorry for being annoying but what's going on, I've arrived here for one day, you found me and completely took me under your wing, why me? What am I to you? We haven't even known eachother for 24 hours and you were already inviting me to party with you? I knew this wasn't a good idea" you said getting up to leave.
He said nothing, and just watched you walk back to the lift and go back down to your floor.
