I close my eyes
and the darkness engulfs me.
Adrenaline is pumping
I use my heart to see.
Trying to scream
my lips are moving but no sound comes.
My hair flows back as a cold breeze passes
with which, 'Mine', a soft voice hums.
Am surrounded by nothingness
'Who's body is this?', I wonder.
Seeing through these eyes but they aren't mine
Oh my! What a blunder.
The throbbing pain is stopped by a whisper so soft
the red stain on my stomach disappers as the aching ceases.
Am on my knees as my body becomes weak
my breaths are uneven as my control decreases.
Eyes fluttering open, I feel the moist grass on which I lay
thunder roars through the arena, drops fall from the sky.
Clothes soaking wet and my eyes sting
bare feet wet with mud but my sandpaper throat is dry.
I wake with a gasp, hands on my heaving chest
the dream flashes again, a coat of sweat breaks.
Eyes roam on the room lit by a flickering lamp
as my moist hands shakes.
My back lands on the soft bed again
eyes closed so tight, 'Just a dream, Oh my!'.
The last question I ask myself before drifting to sleep
my mind screams to me, ''WHO AM I?''.
