Roberta had sent me an email.
I quickly hit stop on the treadmill, ripped the earphone from my ears and pulled it up on my phone.
Kelsey,
I write this email with brilliant news. After quick processing of paper work, your Mother has been selected for panel this Friday afternoon, 5:45pm.You are of course encouraged to attend.
Also, I spoke with Mr James Branson. You were right in thinking he would be surprised by my visit, however his honest answers were more than helpful. You asked me to see if I think you still have a chance and although I am probably breaking rules here, I think you do. That man is very much in love with you.
Good luck,
Roberta.
My heart was still racing due to the quick three mile run, but it also now raced because of that one word. Love. I chugged down the rest of my water, shaking my head. It wasn't possible for him to love me after two short months. He might be very in like with me, very in lust, but I was very in like and very in lust with him too.
I tried to focus on the rest of the email. I still had a chance, and that was important. And my Mother's panel, as important.
"Keith!" I called, making my way back into the office to see him sat in the corner, reading his book and munching on a sandwich. "Do you mind driving me to James' apartment? I need to drop something off."
He attached the bookmark to his current page and placed it on the side. "Of course. Can I be nosy and ask what?"
"Nope," I smiled. I re-tied my hair up into a tight pony tail, not bothering to change out of my gym clothes because I didn't plan on seeing him, or anyone else. "I'll meet you down at the car? I just need to print something off. Oh, and we will need to stop off at the corner shop first."
"For?"
I pursed my lips. "A box of chocolates."
Keith stood from his chair, grabbed his keys. "You plan on getting his forgiveness with some Cadburys?"
"No. Thortons," I grinned. "It's not the chocolates that will make him forgive me, it's what they stand for. We had this conversation once about romance, and whether I've received chocolates. He seemed appalled that I..." I trailed off, laughing. "Anyway... it might work, it might not."
"I hope it does," Keith smiled.
"Really?" I raised my eyebrows. "Cause I heard that you had a bet going. Five pound it won't happen until next week. Is that right?"
He shrugged. "Harmless fun. I don't mind missing out on five quid if it means you got your man back."
"My man," I repeated, trying it out. It sounded weird, but I liked it. "I'll meet you down at the car in five minutes."
As Keith left the office, I quickly logged onto my laptop. Before I pressed pint on the selected picture, I made sure Tina was not on her way back from the bakery. Then I folded the piece in half and placed it in my bag.
There was no telling that this would work. In fact, with the way I kissed him yesterday and escaped, I doubted that it would, but I wouldn't for sure until I tried.
"Just go for Cadburys," Keith said, pulling up outside the store.
"Maybe," I laughed. "Do you want anything?"
"You can get Molls something if you want, since I've got to pick her up in an hour."
