So something a little sad. It's triggering so...please be careful. No one deserves to be sad.

Now the curtain is going up
The Entertainer is taking a bow

Derek's mom hardly ever lets Derek go to the comedy clubs of vaudeville. She always told him that the entertainment was too vulgar.

Does a dance step and sings a song
Even gets all the audience to sing along

But what she didn't know was he left the house almost every night to go to the showings. He had made friends with some of the dancers and singers but his best friend was a lean teen with pale skin dotted with moles.

Yes he knows just what he must do
Knows how to bring down the house when he's through

No one knew his real name. Everyone just called him Stiles, the Entertainer with whiskey amber eyes and a buzz cut.

Snappy patter and jokes, he knows what pleases the folks
The Entertainer, the star of the show

He was sarcastic and snappy, always quick with a joke. It had brought Derek close to the teen and both had become fast friends.

It was in vaudeville that he was on the bill
With all the singers, dancers, acrobats, and clowns

Tonight was like any other night with Derek sitting in the front row for Stiles' show. He had always attended each of Stiles' shows, even if he had to hear the same joke repeatedly.

There was a dancing bear, even a dog act there
And a comedian who never let 'em down

The curtain raised and there was Stiles with his signature grin. He waved slightly to Derek who waved back. Stiles nodded to the musician who started to play. The show had begun.

But when he came on to do his favorite song
He really wowed them in the cities and the towns

Derek grinned at the jokes and admired the way his friend's eyes sparkled when the room roared with laughter. Stiles had always enjoyed making people laugh, even if it had to be at his own expense. He had confided in Derek, telling the dark haired teen why he did what he did.

They came from near and far
To see the vaudeville star

It was Isaac, a dancer who was one of Derek's close friends,  who first smelled the smoke. The crowd forced themselves out in a frenzy, pushing Derek away from the stage and Stiles. Derek reached for his friend but was shoved out before he could make it to him.

Once Derek broke free from the crowd, he tried to push his way back into the tent where Stiles still was. Inside was burning hot, sweat poured down Derek's face as he made his way to the stage. Stiles was pinned by a burning support beam. His whiskey eyes were filled with pain and hope as he saw Derek.

On the Entertainer, the artist, the pro

Stiles tried to push him away, his lips moving. Derek couldn't tell what Stiles was trying to say but he refused to leave. He pushed against the beam, his hands and clothes burning. Stiles stopped him when Derek panted, unable to get anything but thick smoke into his lungs. Both friends looked at one another. Stiles entangled his fingers with Derek's. Derek felt a light squeeze which he returned.

He was put on this Earth
To bring us laughter and mirth

The fire was started by the Argents who wanted the vaudeville show to be destroyed. Many lives were lost. Talia Hale was in tears when she learned her beloved son Derek was one of the casualties. Derek had been found, his body blackened and his hand entangled with another boy who was identified as Genim Stilinski, the son of the Sheriff John Stilinski. John didn't know how to handle it. He lost his wife and son.

Later on that same year, Talia and John were found dead, both had shot each other in the head to see their sons again.
