Looking around my room I stopped  and looked out my window in the hopes that my mother come home as I have for the past 16 years of my life. My father and mother divorced when I was 3 and ever since my father has been drunk, the only time he's sober is when he's at work or at the gym. "Where are you?" I said in a hushed tone trying not to wake my father in the next room over. I looked over at the clock on my dresser, 2:15. I sat up and grabbed my backpack full of clothes and also grabbed my wallet, counted 800 dollars "Tank lets go" I said as I nudged my dog, "BA-' I held his snout shut in hopes my father didn't wake up. "Let's go and be quiet" I said to him. He jumped off my bed and we walked out of the room and down the stairs, I walked over to the living room closest but opening it was a bad mistake because over the years my father would put all my mothers things in this closest. Three of my mothers photos fell and smacked the floor with a 'thud'. I quickly grabbed my dog harness, muzzle and leash and closed the closest door. I picked up the 3 photos and studied them, they were pictures of my mother and her parents 'this can help me' I thought. I unzipped my backpack and put them in and zipped it back up, "tank come" I said to my dog. He trotted over and sat in front of me, I started putting the harness on him and clamped it closed and attached the leash to it "Let's go find mom" I said and he ran to the door. I walk over to him and opened the front door,  the night  hit me with a warm blast of that hot summer air I loved so much. I quickly grabbed Tank's leash before he could run off and stepped out of the house, then on to the porch then into the lawn I took one final glance at my house the wind blowing in the air. I looked at my fathers room and saw him looking out his window staring at me we stared at each other I saw him mouth the words 'good luck' and for the first time in many years I saw him smile a real smile. I smiled back and waved goodbye and walked off the lawn just as the sun was rising I looked back and he was gone 'was that just my imagination? He would never smile at me' when I would ask him why he would respond with "You look too much like your mother Max". Tank pulled on the leash bringing me back to earth. "Let's go, let's go find bmom" I said as we walked down the street off into the sunrise.
