Awkward Introduction to The New Roomie

"So basically your life turned upside down, and now it's gonna get worse" the girl said after I finished telling her every detail of what happened. Unable to contain my curiosity I ask
"So now that you know my entire life story, what's your name?" Surprised she says "Oh I'm your 2nd cousin, Michelle but most people just call me Mitch, you'll be living with me, here, until next Monday which is when we go back to school."
"About that, what's school like?" she looked at me, confused.
"What do you mean? I thought you were in school in America,"
"Well yeah, but that was private school, and home school," I said looking at my hands.
"It's not really that different, what grade are you in?"
"Ninth," She raises her eyebrows.
"Freshman? You look like you're twelve,"
At this I frown, "Twelve and a half, thank you very much."
"How?"
"Weellll, you see when a man, and a women love each other very much-"
"NO, not how are you twelve, how are you in the ninth grade dipstick!" I sigh, trying to think of a simple way of putting it.
"Well, since I was homeschooled, I was able to advance through the different grades faster, so..." I trailed off wondering why I thought it was more complicated than it really was.
"Cool, anyway, I've got to take a shower, I stink, talk to you later." And with that she left me in the entrance hall of someone elses house.

The first couple of days I always felt awkward, feeling like I was intruding on some one else's private night mare. As the days went by, Mitch helped me adjust to the situation, making it easier as the second semester approached.
the day before the first day of school we were making sure everything was ready for the next six months.
